A monk reachs the level that his damage goes to 1d8.

If he uses his "Flurry of Blows" with a Monk weapon I know he uses the FOB to hit numbers, but what about damage? Do you use the Kama's 1d6 or the Monk's 1d8? I know he gets his full strength mod, but what is the base Die for damage.

This is assuming: Monk is Level 5 and using his full action to do the FOB.

His unarmed strikes do 1d8 damage. If he's using a kama, that's not an unarmed strike, that's a kama. You'd use the kama's normal damage.

He doesn't even use his flurry of blows attack bonus, because there is no such thing.

Here's how it works. Figure out your normal full attack bonuses. Then read Flurry.

A 1st level monk can make one normal attack in a full attack. Flurry lets him make one more. If he flurries, all of his attacks are made with a -2 penalty.

At 5th level, he still can make one normal attack, and one extra attack in a flurry. These attacks are made with only a -1 penalty.

At 9th level, he can make two normal attacks, plus one more from his flurry. These are made at no additional penalty.

At 11th, he can make two normal attacks, plus TWO more from his flurry, at no penalty.

All extra attacks from a flurry are made at his highest attack bonus (adjusted for any penalty due to flurry). EVERY attack in a flurry -- basic weapons or not -- must be made with either an unarmed strike or a monk weapon. These deal damage as normal (noted above) -- they just strike more often.

This helps keep it clear for a multiclassed monk.

I was straight on that part. I was just unsure on the Die used for damage. I wasn't sure if FoB over rode damage or not. It changes the to-hit to allow mulitple attacks, so i just wanted clarification on damage.

Thanks for the help! This is my first monk and we came accross this issue last game when i was throwing Shriken. Someone else wondered if the damage was d2 or d8 on them in the since of how FoB changed the to-hit and number of attacks. That made me think, what if i was cheating myself on damage all this time?! :)

Monk Flurry gets two different bonuses over TWF.

1. When using a weapon, he uses one weapon while TWF uses two. So he only needs to enchant one weapon, and also only needs feats for that one weapon, instead of for two different weapons.

2. When not using a weapon, he gets higher damage.

You get to pick which one of these benefits you use, not both.
