Monks in Armor [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-13-07, 04:26 PM Ok... I seem to remember there being a feat somewhere, that essentially allows a Monk to wear armor without losing his Monk class abilities.

If I am not mistaken, could someone please help direct me to such a feat?

Sure you're not thinking of the Swordsage's (Tome of Battle) ability to get his Wisdom bonus to AC in light armour?

That's what I would suggest, if the character hasn't been built yet. Though I'm kinda partial to the ToB mechanics, anyway.

There was a Forgotten Realms PrC (in Unapproachable East, I believe) that basically gave you flurry, and didn't really care what you were wearing.

There's probably some third party stuff that does this, but that can get real scary real fast. Some of it is excellent, but a lot of it is crazy unbalance.d

he's been built. He's 13th level already... Fighter 1/Monk 3/Rogue 5/Ossorus (3rd party prestige class - basically a divine, good aligned assassin) 3/ War Lord 1 (got that level from a Kingdom of Kalamar magical book). And I want to take the Dread Commando Prestige class at 15th level. But the problem is, level 2 and 4 basically do nothing for him but add more initiative bonuses to himself and his team. Unless I want to forget about the weapon I've been building up for him (his +2 [i]ghosttouch[\i] kama of returning) and his wisdom bonus to AC (+5). I've been running the numbers. He has bracers of armor +2, Dex 18 (+4) and Wis 20 (+5). So to gain full benefit of the Dex bonus to AC, and keep get at least another +7, I need like +2 Mithril Chainmail. But then the 3 levels of monk are basically just hit points.

I've already decided to take the feat Ascetic Rogue eventually (probably 18th level.)

So I suppose I'll just take Dread Commando for the rp reasons I have and forget about armored ease being worthwhile at all for this character.
