I released these years ago and have changed them many times since. Here is my latest ideas for them. Please evaluate them.

TUTELAGE [GENERAL]

You have received the benefit of advanced training.

Benefits: Choose any 3 Cross-Class skills. These skills are now always Class skills for you.

Special: This feat can be taken multiple times. If you have taken Skill Focus, your Skill Focus bonus improves to +4 for your 3 chosen skills.

ERUDITION [GENERAL]

You have received specialized instruction that is outside your normal training.

Prerequisites: Tutelage

Benefits: Choose any Class skill. You may Take 10 even when threatened.

Normal: You cannot Take 10 when threatened.

Special: This feat can be taken multiple times. If you have taken Skill Focus, your Skill Focus bonus improves to +5 for your chosen skill.

KNACK [GENERAL]

You have a special knack with this skill and training is quite easy for you.

Benefit: Choose ONE Class skill. For every 2 ranks you have in that skill, you gain a +1 Competence Bonus (Max +10) to that skill. Your Max Ranks for those skills do not change.

Special: If you have Skill Focus and Knack for the same skill, your bonus from Skill Focus increases to +4 for that skill.

NATURAL APTITUDE [GENERAL]

You have a natural talent for learning new things.

Benefit: Choose up to your Intelligence modifier in Class skills (Minimum 1). For every 2 Ranks you have in that skill, you gain a +1 Competence Bonus (Max +10) to that skill. Your Max Ranks for those skills do not change.

Special: You may only take this feat once, and at first level. If you have Skill Focus and Natural Aptitude for the same skill(s), your bonus from Skill Focus increases to +4 for each skill.

----

My original concept for Knack was to get two ranks per skill point. But, not knowing what other feats were out there that altered ranks, I didn't want someone using this feat to brokenly increase their ranks. So, instead, I made it a bonus to your skill rather than raw ranks. The difference between Knack and Natural Aptitude is for choosing Natural Aptitude at first level, you gain more than you would from Knack. Aside from that, the effects are the same.

My favorite feats are those that are effective as you level. I also adore synergies and apply them in any feat I create.

Most of them I like.

But Knack and Natural Aptitutde are overpowered.

The basic math is one feat = +3 (Skill Focus). You are having it one feat = +11 by 20th level (not ecounting the bonus if you also took Skill Focus and took a rank at each level for 23 ranks)

That is better than the Epic feat Epic Skill Focus that has a is a set +10.

At 21st level, an Epic feat should be better than a regular feat, even if you have maxed out your skill ranks..

Even if you think the Epic Skill Focus is weak, yours should not be BETTER than the epic feat. This is pretty clear evidence that you have created an overpowered feat.

Two possible ways to fix this problem:

1. Change 1/2 levels to 1/3 levels, with a max of +6 (not counting the increase if you have skill focus), and you have something fair.

OR

2. Keep the +1/2 levels but change the bonus from "Talent" to "Competence" and cap it at a maximum of +10 bonus. This means it will not stack with magic items. As such, Epic characters will much prefer the epic feat to your version.

IMO this feat is also overpowered.

There is a present published feat which makes one cross-class skill into a class skill. In 3.0 FR I believe there was a feat which also made a cross-class skill into a class skill and in addition gave a +2 bonus to the skill.

However, no feats making three cross-class skills into class skills, and in addition granting a bonus to Skill Focus to each of the skills.

Thank you. I've always valued your opinion, Tarkin, and I have even quoted you on my website. I was hoping you'd still be around to comment on these as you commented on their original incarnations a few years back.

That's what I will do then.

Actually there are several skills that make multiple cross class skills into class skills. Able Learner which makes ALL skills class skills (RoD p150), City Slicker makes 4 skills into class skills (RoD p150), Education makes ALL knowledge skills into class skills (Eb p52), Noble Born makes 2 into class skills (DR333 pg45), etc.

Besides, the bonus to Skill Focus still requires them to take Skill Focus. In the end, if they want that bonus to all three skills, they will have taken FOUR feats to do it! In addition, the classes that are likely to need these feats aren't going to have that many skill points to spend. If you're a rogue, damn near all of the skills are Class skills to begin with. Further more, it doesn't alter Max Ranks, so it's not like they are going to advance into a Prestige Class any faster.
