So does that mean it can be taken more then once. Say I'm a druid3/ranger2/Beastmaster4 and i used my 9th level feat to natural bond on my new animal. And i already had it on my old one. What happens when you change animal companions? Can you apply it to the new animal companion or is it a wasted skill. Say the Companion that it was applied to dies and you get a new one. Would that one have the natural bond? |

| Ninja_Ferret10-14-07, 11:27 AM | In the FAQ/Errata it says that it only applies to one animal companion. But I'm wondering if I can take it more then once for a second animal companion. |
| jaelis10-14-07, 01:07 PM | Sorry, missed that. Technically, you can't take it more than once, because you can only benefit from a feat more than once if it specifically says so. In practice, I think it would be pretty lame for a DM not to let you take it more than once, getting the benefit for a different companion each time. But given what the errata says, I would suppose that even if you just have one companion and it dies, you would need to take it again if you get a new companion. |
| Ninja_Ferret10-14-07, 01:15 PM | It would be a lame feat if you had to get it again for an animal companion if it dies or you switch out animal companions. |
| jaelis10-14-07, 04:37 PM | I agree. But then, I'd have said it applies to all your animal companions, so I'd say the whole errata is kind of lame. |

There are instances where a feat doesn't have a "special" entry stating it can be taken multiple times but is implied else where that it CAN be taken multiple times. Example: In Complete Psionic, the feat Privileged Energy doesn't not state it can be taken multiple times. However, in the same book, the feat Paraelemental Power (which has Privileged Energy (type) as prereq) can be taken multiple times. As the special entry of Paraelemental Power states: "You can gain this feat multiple times. Each time you take this feat, choose another energy type (cold, electricity, fire or sonic) that you have also selected with the Privileged Energy feat" When I asked the RPGA about this, their response was up to DM. So, if your DM lets you take it multiple times, then you can. |
