Hi,

I am getting ready to play (for the first time) a level six monk. Now, he's got a good dex and I outfitted him with some good feats.

Unarmed strike (duh)
Improved Grapple
Improved Disarm
Combat reflexes
Stunning Blow
Run (roleplaying element reasons)
And I don't remember the last one off the top of my head... However!

My DM offered me another free feat before we start playing. Now, he is doing mainly an undead war campaign (I currently have a Holy Sai of Mercy), so I want to dole out the damage, but stay untouchable. My two current options are Hold the Line or Karmic Strike. Is there any other feat out there that would be a good fit for this? I don't have current access to PHB 2 right now, but is there anything in there that would be good?

superior unarmed strike could be cool if u want to punch harder... treat unarmed damage as 4 lvls higher for monk class. versatile unarmed strike lets you use slashing or piercing dmg with unarmed strikes...

For Undead, I would say go with Versatile Unarmed Strike from PHBII. It lets you choose (once a round) whether your unarmed attacks do Bludgeoning, Piercing or Slashing damage. This way you can focus just on boosting your fists and still work on any kind of undead.

A merciful sai would actually be of limited use. Depending on the version of sai you use, it is either piercing or bludgeoning damage. Bludgeoning against skeletons is fine, but piercing would not be. Neither bludgeoning, nor piercing would be useful against zombie types. All undead are immune to subdual (non-lethal) damage granted by the Merciful property, so you would always need to have it "turned off" leaving just the Holy property (which isn't that bad).

Karmic Strike, besides being dangerous for the normal reasons, might be more so against undead, as many of them carry diseases or energy draining abilities or the like. Letting yourself get hit might be something you would be especially careful to avoid against undead.

You might consider some feats which utilize Stunning Fist uses per day as charges. Undead are immune to stunning, so it won't help against them directly. Feats such as Fists of Iron from Complete Warrior, or Fiery Fists from PHBII allow you to do extra damage by using up 1 Stunning attack. Fiery Fist works on all attacks in a single round I believe, so if the enemy is not resistant to fire, you could flurry with each attack getting an extra 1d6 fire damage when they hit.

Deadly Defense (Complete Scoundrel) and Combat Expertise has some nice synergy.
