There is a cleric in my party that has high Wisdom, and even higher Charisma. I just designed a feat that would allow her to take advantage of her high Charisma when casting enchantment spells, allowing her force of personality to boost the save DC.

I just want to make sure it's a worthwhile, playable option and not unbalanced or anything, so I'm asking for any input you guys might have. Thanks!

Domineering Enchanter

Your powerful personality makes your enchantment spells more potent.
Prerequisites: Spell Focus (enchantment), Charisma 20
Benefit: If Intelligence or Wisdom is your primary spellcasting score, you may instead use your Charisma score for determining saving throw DCs when casting enchantment spells.

This might be a bit too much. This is more in line with a class feature. I'd say that she should get a +2 bonus from charisma being over 20. But I don't know casters all that well.

This is one of those feats that could be a bit pointless (what caster would have a higher Cha than Wis or Int when either of those are his primary casting stat?)

But, it still makes me nervous. Who wants this? Why? What do they hope to gain? Maybe I’m paranoid, but I’d worry that there is some part of the picture I’m missing, and I’d want to see the whole thing.

The PC in my game is a cleric of Sune (Forgotten Realms; goddess of love & beauty), and she has I think a 19 Wisdom and a 24 Charisma.

Also could come in handy for bigtime Forgotten Realms villain Fzoul Chembryl, the Chosen of Bane. In the FRCS, he is statted as being a cleric with Wisdom 21 and Charisma 24.

Any cleric who specializes in enchantment and has a higher Charisma than Wisdom could benefit from this - making the feat highly specialized and used by very few, and on top of that it's not that easy to even qualify for.

I compare it to the Zen Archery feat (swaps Dex bonus for Wisdom bonus when attacking with a bow), or there's a feat I can't remember the name of that allows a fighter type to use his Constitution bonus to add to his base Will Save instead of his Wisdom bonus.

I guess I don't really see a problem. I mean, theoretically, these clerics could have a wis as high as their cha if they wanted.

They are intentionally making themselves dual-stat casters. It is only for one school, and they still have DCs, ability to cast, and bonus spells tied to wis. And, it costs them a feat to do it.

I would say that you are probably ok.
