Need to get mOvesilently [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-28-07, 12:06 AM need to get move silently , either as a feat or a domain granted class skill. is there anyway to do this ?

03-28-07, 07:09 AM Move Silently is a skill, not a feat. Any character may spend skill points to buy ranks in any skill. If it's cross-class, it'll just be less effective.

The best method is probably multiclassing - you get the skill as a class skill for purposes of calculating maximum skill ranks, but you still buy skills at 2 points per rank.

There are feats that give you bonuses to skills, but not many and most aren't really worth the cost of taking the feat. Alternatively, if you're human or doppelganger and have access to Races of Destiny the Able Learner feat reduces the cost of your buying skill ranks in cross-class skills to 1. Combine that with a single Rogue level and you're set.

The third alternative (for a cleric) is to find a domain that adds Move Silently to your class skill list. I couldn't find one but maybe you could persuade the DM that there is a need for a Stealth domain. Coming up with spells for it is your responsibility though.

03-28-07, 04:36 PM There is a 3rd option...probably not what you're looking for at all, but here goes...

...Take levels of the Shadow Blade PrC from ToM and you gain a +1 bonus to Hide and Move Silent skill checks for every 2 levels in the PrC. 2nd level class ability.

Really cool if you're building a stealthy warrior-type. Not so cool if you're not.

a.) Take a lv of human paragon (assuming your a human.) and you will gaining adaptive learning (this will allow you to take one skill out of the 10 your chose for class skills to become a permentant class skill in all your future classes.)

b.) If your DM allows it Skill Knowledge is a feat in there as well, but it works kind of differently, because it meant for a different type of skill system but most DM's might allow it as it is written for the normal games of dnd as well.

03-28-07, 08:24 PM Sounds a lot like Jack of All Trades. It lets u use all craft, knowledge, profession, perform, and other skills even if they are untrained and not your class skill. Quite useful for high int chars that use knowledge checks a lot, but do not have it as a class skill, or it is untrained.

it used to, but in 3.5 it now only gives you bonuses on certain social skills. Shame really, that feat used to allow alot of prc entrances.

Hence i mentioned Skill Knowledge which does the same thing 3.0 Cosmopolatin did.

03-29-07, 04:40 PM yeah i need the ranks to qualify for a prestige class.
Black flame zeolot has been driving me crazy trying to get a decent entrance into it. I know there are much stronger PRCS and Better ways to get death attack, but for some reason BFZ appeals to me.

cleric5 trickery and something else/assassin1/black flame zeolot 10/assassin 2-5.

assasin gives you kukri according to my dm and his interpretation of daggers all. where as rogue doesnt give you kukri.
