I'm gearing up to start DMing a new campaign for my group. I'm planning on an academic start to it (more like FFVIII than Harry Potter), and wanted to give my players a bonus feat when they graduate. The campaign is going to be fairly high-powered (I'm aiming for something significant for the final battle, ala the tarrasque).

Please let me know what you all think.

Expert Training

Years of training have honed your skills and sharpened your mind, giving you a decided edge over your competition.

Benefit: This feat grants a number of bonus skill ranks equal to your class allotment plus one per point of Intelligence modifier. These ranks may only be spent on Knowledges or skills listed on any Tactical Maneuver (see PHBII and other sources), and you are still limited to your normal maximum skill ranks. For this purpose, all skills are considered class skills.
In addition, you choose one of the following benefits: a +1 to all attack rolls, a +1 to all saving throws, a +1 to all save DCs, or a +1 on skill checks with a number of skills equal to your Intelligence modifier (chosen when the feat is acquired and unable to be changed later). These are competence bonuses, and therefore do not stack with other competence bonuses.

A free +1 to all DCs? That is pretty tastey. the casters will love that. DC bonuses are pretty hard to come by, so I'd think about cutting that out.

Any ideas one what to replace it with? I wanted to have one choice as a clear cut best for each party archetype, but still give hybrids (Paladin, Ranger, etc) a choice.

What if I drop the mod to DCs +1 for all spells up to a level lower than their highest spell level? As in, only 0-level spells at first level?

They won't be receiving the feat until about 5th.

EDIT: Or make them pick one class for the bonus to apply to? Not much of a limitation with that, though. Hmmm...could treat it like Spell Focus and make them pick a School of spells to get the bonus with...
