| The Crimson Dawn07-04-07, 12:58 AM | As most people seem to figure Desert Wind is possibly the weakest school in the ToB. I wanted to make a way to master Desert Wind by feats that would make it more likely to be chosen by my players. I love the idea of many of the schools fire attacks but I know mechanicly that these really are not as useful as many of the other schools maneuvers. So without further ado here are my two new feats for swordsages that want to get more bang for their deset wind buck. Fire Bender Your training with the fire of the desert wind school has allowed you greater control over your fire based maneuvers. Prerequisites:Discipline focus (any) with desert wind, adaptive style, blade meditation (Desert Wind), one Desert Wind strike, one Desert Wind counter, one desert wind boost, one desert wind stance, 9 ranks in tumble. Benefit:Whenever you use a a Desert Wind maneuver that affects an area you can designate targets to not be affected by your maneuver. For example you could unleash a cone of fire and decide not to affect your allies but still hurt your enemies. Normal:Your maneuvers typically affect all in their area of effect. Fire Lord Your mastery of fire has grown to the point where now you can hurt those who before would be resistant or immune to your inner fire. Prerequisite:Fire Bender, tumble ranks 12, wisdom 17 Benefit:When you use your maneuvers from the Desert Wind discipline your fire attacks become more potent. Your fire damage from your maneuvers ignores all fire resistance and if your targets are immune they still take half damage from your fire attack maneuvers. Normal:Your maneuvers are affected by fire resistance and immunities to fire. I think these feats allow a swordsage who mostly uses Desert Wind abilities to keep up with the other schools. To counteract this I make a swordsage spend a lot to gain these abilities. So what do you think? |
| Vaelan07-04-07, 01:53 AM | I don't think this is necessary. Swordsages get so many maneuvers that they can afford to spend a few on the relevant Desert Wind maneuvers for the situations in which they are useful. |
| The Crimson Dawn07-04-07, 02:02 AM | I know that a swordsage can take maneuvers outside of the Desertwind school to make himself better. What I want to do is have characters that utilize desert wind as their primary attack form. few if any of the swordsage builds I have seen make heavy use of the desert wind school. Most I have seen use tiger claw, setting sun, shadow hand, and diamond mind. I could be wrong however. |
| monkman3307-05-07, 10:43 AM | it reminds me of the sandstorm feat : your fire attacks are SO HOT they burn things immune to fire. cheesy when said that way. however, substitute half of the damage into a different energy type and it makes more sense.... as much sense as can be gathered in a fantasy world. |
