This idea for a Feat has just popped into my head so I wanted to get some thoughts about it before I forget. If something like this already exists, please let me know :P.

Staunch Ally [General]

Whenever you have the opportunity to harm a foe, you can instead use that chance to aid an ally.

Prerequisite: Combat Reflexes, Hindering Opportunist (PHB2), BAB +6

Benefit: You can use the Aid Another action in place of a normal melee attack rather than as a Standard Action. Choose one opponent. This opponent does not need to be currently engaged with an ally. You make an attack roll against AC 10. If you succeed, you grant an ally a +2 bonus on his next attack roll to hit that opponent, or a +2 bonus to AC against that opponent's next attack (your choice), as long as that attack comes before the beginning of your next turn. Multiple characters can aid the same friend, and similar bonuses stack (see Aid Another, page 154 of the PHB). You may make all your Aid Another actions against the same opponent or multiple opponents you can attack as you see fit. You may use your Aid Another actions to benefit the same or multiple allies, as you see fit.

Normal: A character without this feat can only perform a single Aid Another action as a Standard Action, or as an attack of opportunity with the Hindering Opportunist feat, and the enemy must be engaging an ally in melee combat at the start of the action.

Special: These bonuses stack with the benefits of the Hindering Opportunist feat. A fighter may select Staunch Ally as one of his fighter bonus feats.

So, what is wrong/overpowered/broken? I will admit I am not operating on a full night's rest as I write this, so it is entirely possible this feat is utter crap.

This feat means that high level characters can no longer assume total victory against a large number of weak opponents. Suddenly an army of weaklings with this feat can defeat your 20th level PC.

Not saying this is bad or good, just a fact.
