Check out these feats for a new fighting style and let me know if you have any thoughts.

(copied for ease)

Shield of swords is know by many warriors. It is not known who first invented it, but over the years is has become one of the most common fighting styles known. The user uses his single sword to attack and defend, and keeps his second hand open in case he needs to grapple, or do something else. To gain the benefit of any of these feats, the user must be using a one-handed sword in one hand and the other must be empty.

One Sword defense [Style: Shield of Swords]
Prequisite: Wepon Focus (any sword that can be used onehanded)
Benefit: When the user is weilding a one handed sword, and has nothing in his off hand, he receives a +1 competence bonus to his AC.

Surprise Throw [Style: Shield of Swords]
Prequisites: One Sword Defense, Quickdraw
Benefit: As an attack action the warrior may draw a dagger or throwing axe (or other small throwing weapon), and throw it at an opponent he is not fighting without provoking an attack of Opp from threatening opponents.

Surprise Punch [Style: Shield of Swords]
Prequisites: One Sword Defense, Improved Unarmed Strike
Benefit: As a free action, when taking a full attack action, the warrior may make an unarmed attack during the full attack with his free hand at his highest attack bonus. If this is the first time this has been used against this opponent, he looses his dex bonus for that one attack.

Don't move [Style: Shield of Swords]
Prequisites: One Sword Defense, Improved Unarmed Strike, Improved Grapple
Benefit: When an opponent a Shiled of Swords specialist is threatening tries to take a 5 foot step, the warrior with this feat may use an attack of Oppurtunity to make a free grapple attempt at the moving opponent. If this hits and the grapple roll is sucessful, the opponent can not move for the reamainder of the round. This only works on a target one size larger than the user, and smaller.

Greater One Sword Defense [Style: Shield of Swords]
Prequisites: One Sword Defense, Surprise Punch, Suprise Throw, Don't Move
Benefit: When fighting with a one handed sword while the other sword is free, the user gains a +2 competance bonus to his AC. This stacks with the bonus from One Sword Defense.

This looks interesting....I think that some builds could use this better than most....

Also, on the surprise punch thing, you may want to include that the full attack has to be with a sword, other wise a Monk could take the tree and get an extra attack.

One Sword defense [Style: Shield of Swords]
Good feat idea

Surprise Throw [Style: Shield of Swords]
Good idea, needs a re-word. I would change it to "against an opponent he has not previously attack" Obviously once he does the action he is fighting it.

Surprise Punch [Style: Shield of Swords]
Do you mean this to be an extra attack? It should definitely incure the standard penalties for TWF. The advantage you get for taking this feat instead of TWF is the dex bonus. That alone is worth a feat. To also remove the -2 penalty to all attacks is excessive, particularly considering how powerfull TWF is (better than any other style, if played intelligently, for Rogues, Rangers, rich people/high magic games, trippers, disarmers, etc. etc.)

Don't move [Style: Shield of Swords]
Reasonable. A bit strong, but still acceptable. I think you should clarify whether the grapple check just stops them from moving, or if you end up grappling in the same square.

Greater One Sword Defense [Style: Shield of Swords]

Good feat.

It is an extra attack. All the feats of this style require you to be using a single one handed blade in combat, so it wont be used by a monk. (or atleast not one getting his monk abilitiies. if a monk want to invest in all the preq for these feats just to get that unarmed attack, he is welcome to it) No penalties apply, but maybe I should add this can only be used for an unarmed strike. d3+1/2 str shouldn't be too much to make TWF worthless, specially concidering the prerequisites. If anyone else has an opinion on this though, feel free to chime in.

good idea, it only stops the movement, it does not start a grapple.

Good feat.

Thansk for the comments!

The problem with Suprise punch is that it mimcs TWF with no penalty. It can be useed every round, and there is no limit to the amount of times it can be used on a single person. That is crazy good. Simply saying that all attacks take a -2 penalty for the round Surprise punch is used would balance it out nicely.

That sounds reasonable. I like it. Thanks.

From the Op:

Greater One Sword Defense [Style: Shield of Swords]
Prequisites: One Sword Defense, Surprise Punch, Suprise Throw, Don't Move
Benefit: When fighting with a one handed sword while the other sword is free, the user gains a +2 competance bonus to his AC. This stacks with the bonus from One Sword Defense.

I assume this (bold) is a typo, and was meant to read "the other hand", right? I think everybody else read it right/missed it too.

Interesting set of feats, good-decent balance with prereq's, all that.

Free actions are free; you can do as many of them as many times as you like. What you have just done with this feat is allow a warrior to make infinite attacks with his off-hand in the space of a single round.

I think you mean swift action. ;)
