| dwarven_bezerker06-15-07, 11:22 AM | Just curious as to what the official ruling is on the third edition books such as epic level that doesn't have a 3.5 replacement. Some of our group thinks if its 3.0 you can't use it since its outdated but my argument was that wizards obviously aren't going to reprint every book just for a few updates (thats what the erratas are for. However how do things like feats, classes ect. that might have been missed in an errata and don't have 3.5 replacement fit into the game? Are they still playable or is it a DM's call? |
| Dheran06-15-07, 11:36 AM | The official answer's right on page 4 of your DMG:This is an upgrade of the d20 System, not a new edition of the game. This revision is compatible with existing products, and these products can be used with the revision with only minor adjustments. So make the necessary "minor adjustments" like changing Pick Pockets to Sleight of Hand, and you're good to go. Just remember that if there's a newer version of something with the same name, even if it's completely different except for the name, the newer version replaces the old feat/class/spell/whatever. One example: the 3.0 Expert Tactician feat in Song and Silence is nothing like the 3.5 Expert Tactician feat in Complete Adventurer, yet the 3.5 version officially replaces the older 3.0 feat. |
| dwarven_bezerker06-15-07, 12:19 PM | what about feats like the different toughness' (dragon dwarven, giant, ect.) are they replaced by improved toughness since its a toughness feat and sword and fist and masters of wild became complete warrior? |
| InkBlot06-15-07, 02:04 PM | Yes, they were all replaced by Improved Toughness. Look for the consolidated lists on Wizard's DnD website. There's a big list of all the 3.0 feats which have been updated, what their new names are, and where you can find them. |
