Does opportunist allow you to get an AoO even if you aren't in melee combat, or do you need to be in melee combat along with your ally to get the AoO?

Opportunist only gives you another avenue of making AoOs against a target. All other requirements of AoOs should still apply. Thus, you need to be threatening the creature, you must have AoOs left over to take, etc. etc.

There may be feats that let you take AoOs from ranged, but you'd need to have those feats in order to combine it with Opportunist.

OK, just making sure, because I'm building a Rogue right now adn wanted to make certain of what feats I was going to toss on him. Thanks.
