| Belgian Waffle04-14-07, 01:45 PM | A friend of mine wants to create Saito from Kenshin. I noted that there wasn't a feat or ability that emulated his point blank Gatotsu and he was like, "Just make it up then." So, this is what I came up with. Any thoughts or comments would be much appreciated. Zero-Distance Charge Prerequisites : 15 strength, Powerful Charge As a full round action, you can make a charge attack against an adjacent opponent. After the attack is made, you are fatigued. |

| jacobi28904-15-07, 10:41 AM | Why the fatigue? Normal Charges don't fatigue you, and I'd say the cost of a feat is more than enough to pay to use this tactic. |

There either needs to be a drawback or a lot of prerequisites because I consider this feat to be very powerful. I went with the drawback because it was easier and giving the feat a ton of prerequisites you'd probably pick up anyways is redundant. How about... Improved Zero-Distance Charge Prerequisites : 17 strength, Powerful Charge, Zero-Distance Charge, BaB +12 Using Zero-Distance Charge no longer fatigues you. |
| Grug the Just04-15-07, 05:03 PM | I'm seeing a slight problem in what the term "charging" can accomplish from other abilities. Personally, I'd say the easiest way to do something about this is a maneuver from Book of the Nine Swords. Beyond that, maybe a psionic feat that discharges focus. Even a movement skill trick, really just about anything that doesn't allow this to be used round after round would be best to start with. |

That's really not necessary, since that's covered by the fact that it lets you make a charge. A charge is a charge is a charge, so by definition you still lose 2 AC. Why the fatigue? Normal Charges don't fatigue you, and I'd say the cost of a feat is more than enough to pay to use this tactic. Because otherwise, for creatures/characters with Pounce, the feat reads, "As a full-round action, you gain +2 to all attacks and may Rake (if you have it). You take a -2 penalty to AC." For creatures/characters with Spirited Charge, it reads, "You may, as a full-round action, make a single attack that deals double damage (triple with a lance) with a +2 bonus on the attack roll. You take a -2 penalty to AC." That's a lot of power without any sort of drawback. |
| Belgian Waffle04-22-07, 11:54 AM | Thought about it a little bit more and read some things which gave me an idea. Zero-Distance Charge Prerequisites : 15 strength, Powerful Charge As a full round action, you can make a charge attack against an adjacent opponent. After the attack is made, make a DC 15 fortitude save or be fatigued. If you try to use this ability again in the same encounter, raise the DC by 5 for each attempt. The wording may not be correct (I need my Complete Warrior. The Kensai has something similar to this) but I think this may be a good way to do it. |
