Find poisonous plants, make alchemy checks to extract the poison and preserve it. Poisonous metals, alkalies, etc. Alchemy checks all the way. Also, Arsenic can be bought fairly easily in large cities. It was a common rat poison. Poisons in DnD always bother me, because they often are so ridiculously out of line with the real world effects of poisons. But then, they would be unbalanced powerful. |

But then, they would be unbalanced powerful. That is why my DM is limiting me to poisons that are more realistic to the real world. The Black Lotus Poison, being as powerful as it is, he not letting me use it either. |

A typical real life poison takes HOURS, to kill you. The QUICKEST poison in the world is generally considered Curare, which is often measured by the fact that at full strength a frog hit by a curare dart can only make 6 jumps. Then you die about 9 minutes later. AKA, in real life, the best poison in the world still lets you get at least one round to act before you become immobilized, and your party can pretty much finish the fight and totally heal themselves up before even bothering to save your hide. If poisons were made realistic then except for a very rare, very expensive few, they would be totally not worth it for combat. Even in Combat, they would not work very well as anyone could drink a potion of Delay Poison and pretty much continue to live until a cleric healed them. |
