I have a PC who wants to craft poisons. However, we're not sure about rules for it.

I know that crafting magical items equals 1/25th the cost. What about when it comes to crafting poisons?

Are there rules somewhere that give assistance in this?

The Arms and Equipment guide has a full page of poisons with craft DCs and the following page contains all of the rules on poison creation. The skill to use is (oddly enough) Craft: Poisonmaking. It works slightly differently than the normal crafting rules, but I don't remember what the exact details were (and am too lazy at the moment to find my books to look up the rules). Not to mention it is copyrighted material and i don't feel like getting in trouble for posting it.

I always love making poisons, so I bought the Poison Crafters Guide. It is non-wizards material, however it is incredibly fair (the average DC for poisons are taking directly out of the core books) and seriously expands on the poisons rules. I would suggest looking it up and showing it to your DM. It truly makes harvesting raw materials from poisonous things, or even brewing your own signature poisons, a possibility.

Already mentioned: Arms & Equipment, Complete Adventurer.
Drow of the Underdark also has good info on poisons.

BTW, creating magic items costs 1/25th the price in XP. In gold, the cost is half.

I know this is slightly off topic, but are Arms & Equip and Underdark "official" 3.5 books? I was thinking they were 3.0 but I'm a noob, so I'm wrong at least once a day.

you may be think of Fane of the Drow, not Drow of the Underdark which is a much newer book. Book of vile Darkness has a bunch and Lirbris Mortis has some that work on undead between them and the Dmg you should have a pretty long list.
