I've been pondering similar things for a few weeks. A paladin can use a wand of a spell on his class list, since that is all a wand requires. In order to use a scroll, however, he must have a caster level. Practiced Spellcaster would work, except that it requires Spellcraft, which is cross-class for a paladin. However! The Abyssal Heritor feat in Fiendish Codex I: Hordes of the Abyss called Keep of Forbidden Knowledge makes Spellcraft a permanent class skill, so a 1st-level human hexblade, ranger, paladin or any other class that doesn't get spellcasting until 4th level can use scrolls by taking this combination of feats. Abyssal Heritor feats are not evil, but they are mildly chaotic. Taking one has no effect on your alignment. Taking a 2nd Abyssal Heritor feat permanently changes you alignment to chaotic unless you take the Ordered Chaos feat. Perfectly legal (and flavorful) for a paladin. |

Not on your list (even if you somehow know it/can use it as a spell like ability) 2. Must be of the right type (Arcane vs. Divine) 3. Must have a Stat high enough to use it (To read a scroll of Wish, a Wizard needs an Int of 19.) |

Another requirement is that you must be able to read the scroll and complete the somatic components. If you are blind, illiterate, have no hands free, have no arms at all, etc., you cannot cast from a scroll. I e-mailed CustServ about using scrolls while blind. |
