i'm working on a build for a ranger to take the very nice lion of taslid prc from BoED.

only problem is, it asked for the ability to cast Sum Nat Ally 2. a ranger wont get around to having that spell until 10 level, (or 8th if their WIS is high enough for a bonus spell.) thats too long to be wasting away doing straight ranger without a prc.

anyone have any ideas that would allow me to get a 2nd divine spell, say by 5th or 6th level?

thanks

Whoops, my Prestige Class idea did not work.

I suggest you multi-class. 3 levels of Ranger, 3 levels of Cleric. Then go full Prestige Class the rest of the way.

You lose out on an animal companion, 2nd favored enemy and one feat from ICS, and -1 BAB, and a few skillpoints. (Do Ranger first level to get better skills)

You gain better saves, better spells, and the ability to turn undead (which you convert via a feat to something usefull if you desire).

thanks for the ideas tarkin.

the only problem is the prc i wanted to get into gives 10 lvls of animal companion so i dont want to mess that up, i definitely want to do at least 4 lvls of ranger to get the animal comp...

plus the race for the ranger is not human so i would take exp penalty if i did go into cleric after 4th right?

A druid would have a better animal companion and the spell you need, both by 3rd level. If you absolutely MUST have Ranger levels, the two classes don't overlap so heavily that multi-classing them is entirely unwise.
