im making a bardbarian like character base don beowulf, the movie inspired me.

Is there a feat that will let me use my songs quicker than a standard actiion anywhere?

I mean taking a round to buff up mimics his boasting quite well and all but... sometimes i would like to buff and smash in the same round ya know?

Tricky. I mean - the bards ability to inspire courage or competence is an effect of the music/poetry he recites or the quality of a short rallying speech he gives. That would take some time to deliver. When a spell is quickened, it can be cast as a free action - that is so short it more or less defeats what bardic music is about.

But if you feel that shouting a battle cry or something similar (that could conceivably fit into a free action) WOULD be enough to inspire courage or competence and want to construct a feat around it, I suggest that you give it some similar drawback as metamagic feats for balance. Maybe he can only use his "free action bardic music" as bard of four levels lower, or something like that. Then a bard would have to be 7th level to use Quickened Inspire competence for example. It is not exactly equivalent of Quicken spell that uses up a spell slot four levels higher than usual, since spell slots are not equal to character levels, but bardic music is more restricted so I think that would be about equal when all is said and done...

The spell Animate Instrument will let you activate as a swift action, but that needs, you know, an instrument. There may be a swift action spell though. Check the Spell Compendium.

Thanks for the input, no spell compendium here sadly, i have the most books out of anyone in my group and i never really felt the need to get that one honestly.

Ill probbaly ask the DM about making a feat like the one you mentioned, i tend to play flavorful characters over uber ones.

Again, thanks

Do you have Tome Of Battle?

The feat Song Of The White Raven allows you to activate Inspire Courage as a swift action (just like a quickened spell) while you're in a White Raven stance. It only requires Inspire Courage and a single White Raven maneuver. Taking a single level of Warblade or Crusader would be the easiest way to get White Raven maneuvers and stances, but you can also get maneuvers and stances via the Martial Study and Martial Stance feats (respectively).

Song Of The White Raven also stacks Warblade and Crusader levels with Bard to determine the potency of Inspire Courage, but that probably won't benefit you much.

Hypothetical house rule feat - have it cost some more bardic music uses. Having it cost 3 bardic music uses might be alright.
