Hi all. Need your help in answering this question.

Can I use the Energy Vortex spell to power my Fiery Burst feat?

I am assuming the answer is NO because the last line of the spell states "The descriptor of this spell is the same as the energy type you choose when you cast it". This would mean that the spell has no descriptor until cast, which in turn means that I cannot use it to power the Fiery Burst feat.

Just want to confirm my suspicions...

Where do we find this spell and the feat?

What do they even do?

Without that everything you said makes no sense.

I agree with your hunch, that the spell doesn't actually have a descriptor unless you choose one by casting it, and therefore can't be used to activate the feat. There was a similar discussion about whether a single summon monster spell could power any number of reserve feats (as SM can potentially have one of eight different descriptors), and the general concensus was no.
