I'm just wondering how that worked out. Yes, and its no problem, after all the followers-followers are weak and few :) In my games we also rule that followers are 100% loyal, as its the only real reason to take the feat instead of a series of high diplomacy checks ("join me, and get famous/rich/laid/cool/dead") The followers minions would be loyal to their superior though, and not directly toward the character. The difference is minor though. Leadership have to be the coolest feat in the book, abeit I think the cohort makes no sense, and should be traded for a *10 modifier to followers. |
| slwoyach12-31-07, 12:59 AM | I love the leadership feat in concept, but it doesn't really work. I usually just keep the cohort and send everyone else home. You should get x number of levels to divide among your followers, with a maximum allowed at half your level, another max allowed at 1/3 your level, etc. As is, they all just die. Unless you make them wizards, then everything else dies under the onslaught of magic missiles. |

They're supposed to spread the good word about you, give you discounts in the shops and inns they run, look after your estate while you're out galavanting across the country side, and maybe (big maybe) wait outside the dungeon to help you carry the loot home after you beat up everything inside. Cohorts are the ones you take with you into battle. I prefer to use Leadership to get cool mounts, like phase spiders. Although, to date, I haven't yet actually had a character who survived the time between when I decided to give him the Leadership feat and when he got a new character feat. Wierd that. |

The problem is sometimes I want to play a general. The best use I ever got out of leadership though was a character who had one bodyguard (a reaping mauler), a slew of informants throughout Waterdeep, and many more in key locations throughout the realms. He knew everything. |
| CryoSilver01-01-08, 05:34 PM | Check out Heroes of Battle; it has expanded uses for Leadership. Also, if you have ToB, many White Raven powers can make followers substantially better. |
| Bloodsoul01-01-08, 10:34 PM | I've only one character with Leadership at the moment, a Cleric. Followers = worshippers. Cohorts/followers with Leadership = more followers = more worshippers. Yay! Can't see any problems with cohorts.. except for those named Kas. >_> |
| InkBlot01-02-08, 01:09 AM | The problem is sometimes I want to play a general. So you want an army? Standard Leadership can't do that. It's like trying to use the standard Fighter to make Jack Sparrow. Besides, armies are best against other armies. Compared to a normal army, any monster with a CR over 5 is Godzilla. You don't send the army against Godzilla; you send more giant monsters. You and your cohort are those other giant monsters. |
| DracoPhoenix01-02-08, 07:43 AM | IIRC, doesn't DMG2 have rules on creating organizations? One of the organization "abilities" allow members to earn 100-200g / month. Incorporate yourself, with 40 followers at 100g / month = 4000g / month for free. (8000g if it's 200g/m) Probably best for between campaign down time though. |
