Question about skills and cross-class skills. [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-21-07, 02:20 PM This is something I should probably know, but I don't.

Say a 17th level wizard with 20 ranks in spellcraft wants to take a level of psion. Spellcraft is a cross-class skill for psions I know, but my question is can he add a new rank in spellcraft by spending two skill points? Or can he not because cross-class skills can only be at Level+3 divided by two, so he has to wait until he is nearly double his current character level?

03-21-07, 02:41 PM In 3.5, if a skill is a class skill for any of your hitdie/classes, max ranks = HD+3 (unless you're an unusual race, this is class lvls +3).

If it is a crossclass skill for all of your hitdie/classes, then max ranks (HD +3)/2.
