If you take a 2nd class, am I still able to put points into my old skills as if I were still in that first class, or are they now classified as whatever by my new class?

For example, I have a Rogue who I take up to level 3. At level 4, I switch to fighter. Am I able to put skill points into hide, open lock, etc. as if I were still a rogue, or do those skills now take on what ever characteristic the Fighter class has assigned to them?

Thanks in advance for your answers!!

You count a skill as a class skill with regards to the maximum Number of points you put into it as long as any of your classes have it as a class skill.

But when you level up, you can only get 1 rank for 1 point if the skill is a class skill for the class you just took.

I.E.

A Rogue 3/ fighter 1

Has a maximum of 3+1+3 = 7 ranks in Hide.

But (assuming he maxed it out), that cost him

3 +3 = 6 skill points from his rogue levels.

+2 skillpoints from his fighter levels.

the max for your first class' skills is as if it was a class skill (so 3+char level) but you must still pay 2 for 1 if say you used your fighter level to increase your hide. the only exception to this is if you are human (or dopplganger) and take the able learner feat from the races of destiny.

edit: ahh, tarkin beat me to it.

First, I hardly had a chance to read 1 other thread before I checked back and found 2 replies!! Man, you guys are fast!! haha!!

So, basically, as far as the cost goes to add skills, it doesn't matter what you had in the past, you look at what ever class you just took as the guideline for what skills are class, crossclass, etc.

Thanks for the answer!!
