Ok, if been thru parts 1-4 of actions on the wizards site. in the feat description of spring attack it states that "when using the attack action with a melee weapon, you can move both before and after the attack, provided that yor total distance moved is not greater than your speed."

i've come to the conclusion that an attack action is an attack that uses a "standard action" and in any given round you are allowed both a standard action and a move action. so my question is, is the movement "before and after" using your move action or is it part of the "attack action", can i take a move action and then utilize spring attack?

if anyone can help me on this please email me at ninja_rf@yahoo.com any input will be helpful. thanks

It is strangely worded.

But you get just ONE move attack in a round, the feat does not change that.

When you use Spring Attack, this is what happens:

1. You are using the Move Action + Standard Action, as your actions for the round. You do not get another Move Action. You can not do a Full Attack action. You can still do any free actions and a single swift/immediate action.

2. Your Move Action is a real move, not an MEA such getting a potion out of the bottom of a bag.

3. Your Standard Action is a single attack. That is all you are allowed, nothing else.

4. You do your single attack standard action in the middle of your move, instead of before or after the move.

5. You do not suffer any AoO for movement from the single person you attack.

You just use the basic rules. 1 standard action 1 move action. You can either attack then move or move then attack.

Howeve with spring attack you can continue your move action after you attack if you did not use up all your movement.

So if you had a speed of 30 you could move 20 make an attack and then move 10.

Or you could make an attack and move 30 like normal, but with the added bonus of not causing AoOs against that opponent that you attacked.
