Just a quick question. Can Transdimensional Spell from Complete Arcane be used with the summon monster spells. The wording on it was vague enough that none in my group could decide (we all agreed that the wording could go either way) So I was wondering what you guys think, and if there is an official WotC ruling on it.

I think it's possible.
According to that image (Complete Divine gallery)

you can use Transdimensional Spell with conjuration spells. But the summoned creatures will stay on the ethereal plane unless they're able to shift planes on their own.

I do think it is legal, but I don't think it does anything.

It is sort of like trying to Extend a True Strike, it works, but not the way you think it does and not very effectivwely (An extended True Strike still only lasts for one attack but you have two rounds to take that one attack).

Transdimensional spell does not let you create/summon things that exist on all planes. You can not use it to summon a creature onto the Ethereal plane.

Instead it allows you to cast spells that EFFECT things on other planes. In other words, the feat only works on spells that target something. The feat says something like "You must be able to perceive a creature to target it with a transdimensional spell, but you do not need to perceive a creature to catch it in the area of a burst, cone, emanation, or spread."

When you cast a summon monster spell, you are effecting the creature you SUMMON, not the creature you attack.

Because the only 'target' of the Summon monster spell is the creature you are summoning, making it transdimensonal does not help you in any way, shape or form.
