Raising DCs for a Divine Caster [Archive] - Wizards Community

I'm looking at the Archivist class, and considering a curser (Black Karma Curse, Curse of Missile Attraction, Bestow Curse, etc etc).

However, the schools of these spells are all across the board.

BKB: Enchantment.
Missile Attraction: Transmutation.
Bestow Curse: Necromancy.
Curse of Ill Fortune: Transmutation.

Etc etc.

So Spell Focus (School) isn't going to help me at all.

The only thing I can think of to boost my DCs is to boost my Int, which is obvious and still a little limited.

Suggestions?

Heighten Spell

When they're the highest spells you can cast at that level, that really doesn't help much.

Perhaps you should provide some more details of your character then. However, my suggestion may not be useful now, but perhaps later it could come in handy.

You might also consider expanding your spell selection to include spells that can cause panicked, frightened, or shaken conditions as those apply a -2 penalty to saving throws, which is almost as good as raising a DC. Other useful save lowering effects include energy drain and sickened.

This character is likely going to be a backup char, in case my current one dies. So if I die anytime soon, the Archivist would be level 3 or 4, round about.

Hmmm.

The problem with cause fear/scare is the HD limit. But, I'm sure there are feats that might duplicate shaken effects.

It's a shame there aren't any curses or debuffs that lower an opponent's AC.

Curse of Impending Blades (Spell Compendium) does this, and it is on the ranger spell list so an archivist could potentially learn it.
