Hello,

We're playing a lvl 15 campain which resolves about a bit war against demons. So I thought this would be a cool character. It is a lvl 6 ranger, lvl 2 bow initiate and a lvl 7 knight of the chalice.
Ofiicially this is nog possible but my DM allowed me to add protection from evel to the ranger spell list, making this possible.

I have a question about the combination of the following feats and/or abilities:

If I use the manyshot feat to fire three arrows do I get to roll the fiendslaying (+3/3d6) damage for each arrow? and may I also add the +4 damage of the favored enemy ability? (and what about my holy and demonbane damage?)

And another one:

I have a hunting longbow, the hunting adds +4 to my favored enemy ability, I also am a solitary hunter which says that my favored enemy damage bonus also applies to the attack rolls. Does the hunting ability increase my +4 att bonus to +8?

already thanks for your help!

With plain Manyshot, I'm pretty sure that is a no.

The Manyshot feat specifically limits "precision-based damage" and "critical hits" to just the first arrow. Now, how this should apply to other types of extra damage, I'm really not sure....

The FAQ does allow a Ranger's favored enemy bonus damage to apply to all arrows. The FAQ also stays that precision damage is based around the concept of "hitting a vital spot" and concludes that unless the concept of "vital spot" is part of the extra damage in question, it should not be considered "precision-based damage."

Well that's just silly, but whatever.

Also, you could have been a Cleric/OotB/Knight of the Chalice with Zen Archery and a god with a longbow as favored weapon. And probably thrown in a couple other relevant PrCs too.

My preferred build for Knight of the Chalice and Order of the Bow Initiate is Elf Ranger 5/Pious Templar (Of Shevarash) 1/Order of the Bow Initiate 5/Knight of the Chalice 9.

My preferred ranged attack Knight of the Chalice build is Elf Scout 10/Pious Templar (of Shevarash) 1/Knight of the Chalice 9. Not the earliest entrance, but it gives Skirmish and Fiendslaying, plus other useful things such as Trapfinding, the speed boost, and 30ft Blindsense.

Actually, I would say Favored Enemy (and Fiendslaying by extension) would apply to them all since you get the bonuses even against oozes/undead, which are immune to precision-based damage. Meaning they aren't precision-based.

I would also say that Solitary Hunter does add the bonus from Hunting, since it says your damage bonus from Favored Enemy.

And lastly, I believe Holy and Demonbane explicitly apply to all arrows fired from the bow, so that should also apply to all of the attacks.

EDIT: If, for whatever reason, your DM says that it is precision based, then take Greater Manyshot from the SRD/Expanded Psionics Handbook. The feat is not a psionic feat, and allows precision based damage on all attacks made with Manyshot.

[The above is my interpretation and may or may not be RAW]

One attack roll so only one application is how I see it.

Unfortunately This was also my thought, the feat explicitly says that "precision-based damage" only count's once and one could argue that a ranger's favored enemy and the fiendslaying bonus of Knight of the chalice are bonuses gained because they are specialized in that particularly enemy and know where and how to hit them for the most damage, making it kinda "precision-based damage"

This on the other hand is a realy good argument...

Still with the greater many shot feat I think it would be possible, unofortunatly it is in a book that our DM does not allow. But I may be able to sneak it in :)

Thanks for the help.

Now that I read the entry for Manyshot in the SRD I'm going to have to revise that. It looks like damage that would always apply still does for each arrow fired. I'd presume any one shot effect (something like smite) would still only work with a single arrow although most probably aren't allowed because of the action required.
