If you keep reading the class they get it at a later level. Improved combat style

Yes. If you don't plan on advancing in Ranger far enough to get Improved Combat Style, you can still take Improved Two Weapon Fighting when you qualify. When a class grants bonus feats, you have them just like any other feats.

thanks thats the answer i was looking for, i was just doubtful since you are only granted the feat in light armor.

You indicate using Light Armor to qualify for the feat, just want to be clear that no/light armor will still be required to use Improved Two-Weapon Fighting.

You may lose the ability to utilize the Ranger's TWF, by wearing Heavy Armor for example, then you will also lose the ability to use ITWF while in the restricted armor.

There is a precedent for this in that if you qualify for a feat or PrC by using an stat enhancing item. If you lose the item, and stats fall below pre-req levels, you also lose access to those feat/class abilities until the pre-req stat amount is regained. iirc

Therefore I can only conclude that if you use Ranger's TWF to qualify for ITWF; you can not utilize either ITWF in armor that prohibits the pre-requirement feat ( TWF ) from functioning.

To simplify and clarify, your Ranger's Combat Style has one requirement: that you remain in light or no armor. You ignore the normal prerequisites for Two Weapon Fighting, but you gain this requirement. Should you ever fail to meet the requirement, you lose the benefit of the class feature until you qualify for it again. Likewise, you would lose the benefit of any feat or ability that uses your Combat Style as a prerequisite until you qualify for the Combat Style again. You also need to qualify for the feat as normal.
