does a 6th level ranger who has the rapid shot feat and base attack bonus of +6/+1 get:

A)four attacks per round?

OR,

B)only two attacks (from the feat) each made at the hightest attack bonus (+6) (and -2 on each attack from the feat)

In addition to the base attack you still add the dex bonus to each attack too, correct?

Thanks in advance for the help! :)

Three. Rapid Shot adds an additional attack, with a -2 on all of them, so he rolls at +4/+4/-1. And you add all appropriate modifiers, including DEX, feats, magic, and so forth.

It is actually +4/+4/-1.:)

That's what I meant to type. Will edit.

and please note, that's an OPTIONAL third attack. he has a choice every time he uses a full-attack action to use the feat or not, and get either +6/+1, or +4/+4/-1

Note this is a general rule.

Almost nothing 'doubles' your attacks.

Instead they always simply add extra attacks, usually one ability/feat = +1 attack.

Examples: TWF, Rapid Shot, Flurry, Haste, natural weapons, etc.

So, the last atack made at -1 is for the (feat +1) -2 penalty?

This is a multi-step process.

Rapid Shot [General]

Prerequisites
Dex 13, Point Blank Shot.

Benefit
You can get one extra attack per round with a ranged weapon. The attack is at your highest base attack bonus, but each attack you make in that round (the extra one and the normal ones) takes a -2 penalty. You must use the full attack action to use this feat.

Special
A fighter may select Rapid Shot as one of his fighter bonus feats.

A 2nd-level ranger who has chosen the archery combat style is treated as having Rapid Shot, even if he does not have the prerequisites for it, but only when he is wearing light or no armor.

The first part of the second sentence "The attack is at your highest base attack bonus," Means first you look at your highest BAB attack. This would be +6 for your character. So, you get an extra one at your highest BAB, so now you have an attack scheme of +6/+6/+1.

But we are not done yet. The sentence then reads, "but each attack you make in the round (the extra one and the normal ones) takes a -2 penalty." which means that you now subtract 2 from your +6/+6/+1 to get your new attack bonuses. This leaves you with +4/+4/-1 as your attack bonuses. These numbers are in place of your BAB, you still would then add any other bonuses to hit, such as your Dexterity bonus, or Weapon Focus, or enhancements from the weapon you use.
