| andinel06-26-07, 10:47 PM | Is there a feat that gives the same effect as Rapid Shot does for ranged combat, but for melee? |
| archerpwr06-26-07, 10:55 PM | Is there a feat that gives the same effect as Rapid Shot does for ranged combat, but for melee? iirc rapidstrike from dracamonican. |
| Krusk06-26-07, 11:02 PM | slashing fury in phb2 i think does it for slashing weapons. but it is generally a fighter only feat. |
| Strogg06-26-07, 11:04 PM | iirc rapidstrike from dracamonican. rapidstike only works with sets of natural weapons. such as 2 claws, 2 wings and etc |
| archerpwr06-26-07, 11:12 PM | rapidstike only works with sets of natural weapons. such as 2 claws, 2 wings and etc Eh. Almost all the abilities that grant an extra attack are restricted to certain weapons. Slashing flurry requires a slashing weapon. The exotic weaopon master's flurry requires that specific exotic weaopn. A monk's flurry requires a monk weapon. |
| jaelis06-27-07, 08:05 AM | Is there a feat that gives the same effect as Rapid Shot does for ranged combat, but for melee? Two weapon fighting. |
| MerlintheTuna06-27-07, 08:12 AM | Flashing Sun, a 2nd level Desert Wind strike from Tome of Battle, is exactly this, with the obvious caveat being that it's a ToB strike so you won't be able to spam it. |
| Kamin_Majere06-27-07, 08:22 AM | Two weapon fighting. And thus we have the correct answer |
| Harliquinn06-27-07, 09:43 AM | Rapidshot was originally the ranged answer to two-weapon fighting, so yes that is the answer. |
| Steely_Dan06-27-07, 09:57 AM | RAPID STRIKE Prerequisites: Dex 13, base attack bonus +1. Benefit: When using a melee weapon, you may make two strikes as a single attack against a single target. You take a -2 penalty on your attack roll, but you deal +1 die of damage with a successful attack. |
| tarkin06-27-07, 10:35 AM | Uhm, that is not the Rapidstrike published by WoTC. That is some home brew thing. The real Rapid strike ONLY works with natural weapons, never with melee weapons. But Rapid shot does exit for Melee weapons. It is called TWO WEAPON FIGHTING. Just as Rapid Shot requires you to use a different thrown weapon/arrow with the extra shot, TWF requires you to use a different mellee weapon with the extra shot. Not that hard to understand. |
| Steely_Dan06-27-07, 10:37 AM | Uhm, that is not the Rapidstrike published by WoTC. Yes it is – Star Wars: Saga Edition. |
| obsidianprism06-27-07, 06:10 PM | Yes it is – Star Wars: Saga Edition. I'm going to agree with tarkin just because is published by the same people, and for a d20 system, doesn't mean that they convert over. Your GM/DM may allow it, and thats fine, but for the most part, sorry, no. also, the RAPID STRIKE feat that you are referring to works more like the DOUBLE TAP feat from d20 Modern than the Rapid Shot Feat from D&D. |
| pupilofyah06-29-07, 12:17 PM | also even though these other rapid strikes are WotC this is a DnD board so it doesnt follow that anything WotC goes. for that matter note that third party DnD books can be discussed because they are DnD but one should note that some players believe if it isnt core then it doesnt count. that being said the DnD feat rapid strike in monsterous and not general so most PC's cant get it anyway. if the DM allows a monsterous char that qualifies(the feat is even more specific about who can take it) as DM i encourage my players to try and write their own feats and spell for their chars to personalise them because i think it is inportain to the experience. everyone developes their own style and everything has to be approved by me so they dont even try to break the game. and unlike some DM i have played with that allowed this i dont try to make it so that it has to be weaker than any other option avible in the game. i played with one DM that made everything we could do worthless. our ranger had favored enemy undead and when we encountered one our 3 clerics could not turn it and the ranger could not get his extra damage because he had never seen skeleton with black bones. |
| Relic06-29-07, 05:44 PM | While two weapon fighting works I think there is an important difference in that it requires the use of two weapons, or a double weapon. So it does the same thing in allowing another attack at a -2 but it requires you to actually use a second weapon. It also does less damage because the off-hand attack does not benefit from full Strength. There is an alternate class feature for the barbarian's rage, I believe called Frenzy that allows the barbarian to make an extra attack on a full attack action with all attacks suffering a -2. It replaces his rage ability. I think it was in Arcana Unearthed but I would have to check the book and I do not have the books with me. Either way, I do not see any blatant reason on why a feat cannot be created that mimics rapid shot but for melee attacks only. |
| The_Shaman06-29-07, 05:47 PM | Is there a feat that gives the same effect as Rapid Shot does for ranged combat, but for melee? Not quite. TWF, Flurry, slashing flurry, and the EWM double weapon maneuver all give at least 1 extra attack, but each comes with its own tricks. |
