Whirlwind Attack states that when you use it, you lose all bonus you get from feats and abilities. Does this mean that Reach Gauntlets won't work with it if I apply it to something like a scythe? I really don't see why it wouldn't but I do want to make sure, just in case.

with whirlwind you lose all bonus ATTACKS, from feats or otherwise, you don't lose the bonus of your feats or magic items if they don't give you extra attacks. I don't know what reach gauntlets are, but they don't sound like they grant extra/bonus attacks.

Yes, as Eerogal said, you loose 'bonus or extra attacks' mean bonus attacks or extra attacks. If you'd loose every type of bonus from feats and abilities, it would say 'bonuses or extra attacks'.

if it said THAT, i would rate whirlwind in all ways as worse than toughness would be for an epic level character :P

OMG I gots an idea:lightbulb

Ogre (+5ft reach) + Spiked Chain (+5ft reach) + Surrounded on all sides for 20ft by kobolds + Whirlwind attack = Lots of dead kobolds:D

Actually, it would be Ogre (10' natural reach) with a Spiked Chain (Reach doubled) surrounded on all sides by Kobolds out to 20' engaging in a WW attack = lots of dead kobolds. By my figuring you'd threated 76 spaces (plus maybe a dozen more) with your tall, large creature wielding a spiked chain.

Now give him combat reflexes, at least 14 dex, and you got yourself a very amazing character/NPC

If you're gonna do all that, may as well go warhulk. They have an ability that basically lets them whirlwind as an attack action.

When surrounded, some of those kobolds would receive soft cover from each other and you wouldn't threaten then. So you'd still be limited to how many are circling you.

I thought there was an errata and didn't grant soft cover for melee combat anymore?

That's right Frost Hammer. Soft Cover only applies to ranged attacks.
