| Argo05-07-07, 08:45 PM | Title of another thread gave me some inspiration. Reckless Shot You can shoot an enemy where it hurts, at the expense of your own neck. Prereq: Precise Shot, Improved Precise Shot, Sneak Attack +2d6, Balance 5 ranks By making a single ranged attack against a foe within 60 feet as a full-round action, you gain a competency bonus of +4 on the attack and +4d6 on the damage. Immediately after this attack, you must make a DC 15 Balance check or fall prone. If you do not fall prone, you are limited to a single move action the following round. If you do fall prone, you may take no actions in the following round. If you have any feat that allows you to stand from prone as a free action, you must wait until the next round to do so. During the round of the attack, as well as the round immediately after, you are denied your Dexterity bonus to AC and take a further -2 penalty to AC (in addition to the penalties of being prone, should you fall.) You also automatically fail all Reflex saves. The extra damage stacks with Sneak Attack damage, but the target does not need to be denied its Dexterity bonus for this ability to work. Please comment. |

| Argo05-07-07, 10:10 PM | I came up with it on the fly, mostly for the flavor of it. The image of someone putting so much of themselves into a shot that they topple over... I do not know of Ranged Weapon Mastery, so I can't compare it. What would be more appropriate in terms of bonuses and penalties? I've never designed a feat before. Don't just say it's too weak, help improve it. |

I would say that if interrupted, during the prep rounds, you couldnt use the feat, or would have to start over. call it something like "Prepared Shot" instead of recklace. I like the idea of a recklace shot, but i am thinking that instead of getting the huge neagatives in the next rounds (prone adn such) you would simply take a -4 incompetence bonus to add +1d6, you can stack up to 3 -4 bonuses to get up to +3d6 (max -12 to attack, +3d6) can only use when you could sneak attack, then you are truly recklace... risking it all for that one shot you think you can get. oh yeah PS reckless |
