Reserve feats...link please? [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-12-07, 06:10 AM This is probably old news to you veterans here, but can anyone link me to any threads pertaining to discussions on the usefulness of the reserve feats from Complete Mage?

I have heard of what they could do, but never had a chance to actually look up their stats until today, when I managed to browse through said book in depth. Nor did I particularly pay much attention to those threads back then since I wouldn't have known what the heck was being discussed anyways.

My impression was that while they did not seem too spectacular at higher lvs, the utility they grant at low lvs looked extremely useful.

For example, the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the fiery burst feat was that a human sorc could take both precocious apprentice(scorching ray) and fiery burst, thus granting a 1st lv spellcaster the ability to spam 2d6 bursts at will. Why bother with a warlock then, when a sorc can still supplement this with sleep spells?

Sorry, I have no experience with Reserve feats, but I think they're a fantastic idea.

07-12-07, 11:46 AM WoTC has previously ruled that the Precocious Apprentice feat does not qualify you as being able to cast 2nd level spells for other feats and Prestige Classes.

They did this despite the fact that a literal reading of the feat makes it look like it does qualify you.

I personally think they should have errated it.
