| volcomguy04-15-07, 04:57 PM | so we are starting a new campaign an ive never played a rogue class. im thinkin i will go just strait 20 rouge. im curious what feat trees you all would advise? p.s im human |
| Banatine04-15-07, 05:06 PM | Personally, I wouldn't recommend being rogue 20 (mainly because of the dead lvl 20. I mean, come on, no capstone ability? Not even an extra sneak attack dice? Rip-off!). I would suggest a few levels of the Invisible Blade PrC from complete warrior if you have access to it, and if not just 1 level of fighter for a bonus feat. CW also has the Master Thrower which would be very usefull to gain abilities like hitting anything your size or larger on it's touch AC, and using sleight of hand checks to deny an enemy's DEX to AC. Anyway, i've wandered far too off topic now. When it comes to feats, you want stuff like Combat Reflexes to get more attacks of opportunity (since you will have a really high dexterity), maybe going down the Two-weapon Fighting road (even though thats almost all your feats used up), or taking Precise Shot and Point Blank Shot (for if you intend to stay out of combat and still sneak attack) |
| Jaxgaret04-15-07, 05:18 PM | I would recommend focusing on the TWF tree. It's gold for Rogues who like to Sneak Attack. Weapon Finesse is great for Rogues with low Strength and high Dex. A simple build is 4 levels of melee classes mixed in with 16 levels of Rogue/Rogue PrCs. Ranger2/Fighter2 is simple and decent for those four levels. Use those Fighter bonus feats on the TWF tree (along with the Ranger's 2nd level Combat Style) and save your racial feats for better things. On race: Humans and Elves and Halflings make excellent Rogues. Whisper Gnomes are even better crunch-wise; that is if your DM allows them. |
| volcomguy04-16-07, 12:12 AM | i shoulda mentioned we will most likely be goin epic so id like to stick with 100% rogue |
| Kintara04-16-07, 01:17 AM | i shoulda mentioned we will most likely be goin epic so id like to stick with 100% rogueAh, yes. A good reason to stick to it. Alternatively, you can take 4 levels in a full BAB class to pick up a fourth iterative attack, but you can live without it (people make more of a big deal out of that then it really is). Be sure to check out the epic feats you want, and try to pick up the prereqs you'll need. There's no point in wasting epic feat slots on normal feats if you can help it. Special ability choices are also important for the same reasons. |
