| Cuddly_Wuddlykins04-26-07, 08:01 PM | The title says it all what are good assasin oriented rogue feats? |
| Illithid_Tentacles04-26-07, 08:09 PM | Depends on the kind of rogue you're playing. Is he a burglar? A pickpocket? Street thug? Trap finder/disarmer? Assassin? Fencer? It all depends on your character concept amd what role you want to take and what kind of game you're playing. Disable Device is great for a dungeon delver, but a street thug is a lot less likely to find uses for it. |
| Novacat04-26-07, 09:00 PM | Skill Focus: Hide, Skill Focus: Move Silently, Stealthy. Get yourself a cloak and boots of the elvenkind, a high DEX score and max ranks in those two skills and you're set. Seriously, an assassin must not be seen or heard, so these are very important. Beyond that, I direct you to the Skill Tricks in Complete Scoundrel, where I suspect you'll find many useful abilities. |
| j3st3r04-26-07, 09:04 PM | If you're thinking of taking one of the PrC's (or several), that probably will decide what feats you should take. Useful feats for rogues: - Able Sniper (RotW) - Crossbow Sniper (PH2) - Deft Strike (Dcn) - Staggering Strike (CAdv) - Telling Blow (PH2) - Woodland Archer (RotW) |
| Particle_Man04-26-07, 09:26 PM | Ability Focus (Death Attack) in the Monster Manual. Staggering Strike (Complete Adventurer), because if the Death Attack fails you *really* don't want to eat a full attack from the guy you just ****** off. |
| Nadaka04-26-07, 09:27 PM | from the Book of 9 Swords: Martial Study: Cloak of Deception, Martial Stance: Assassins Stance, Martial Stance: Island of Blades, Martial Study: Sapphire Nightmare Blade, Martial Study: Hand of Death, Martial Study: Shadow Jaunt. Not only do these sound freakin' cool, they actually are freakin' cool. Or you could just take a couple levels of swordsage amd get most of these as well. I suggest rogue 6/swordsage2/rogue 12. That will get you everything above but hand of death. And you maximum sneak attack damage will be 11d6, an actual increase over just having rogue levels plus you will be able to use your sneak attack for more often thanks to swordsage tricks. However: note that by just taking Martial study: Cloak of Deception at lvl 6 or 9 and Assassins Stance at level 12 without taking swordsage levels, you increase your SA by +2d6 instead of just +1d6. | Kintara04-27-07, 12:13 AM | I believe you can only take Martial Study thrice. I don't know about stances, though. Of course those levels in Swordsage probably solve that problem. ;) |
| calprinicus04-27-07, 01:17 AM | I didn't see it in the prior post but I would go. Improved sneak attack. d8s instead of d6s. forgot what book this was from |

| Thrincold04-27-07, 03:41 PM | I didn't see it in the prior post but I would go. Improved sneak attack. d8s instead of d6s. forgot what book this was from The only book I am aware of that feat being from is "Traps and Treachery". That is a 3rd party 3.0 splat, therefore, it could be doubly hard to pass by a DM. |
| WinDReiN04-27-07, 04:35 PM | Weapon finesse. Darkstalker feat from Lords of Madness. |
| Perseus_Stoned04-27-07, 04:43 PM | The only book I am aware of that feat being from is "Traps and Treachery". That is a 3rd party 3.0 splat, therefore, it could be doubly hard to pass by a DM. There's also the epic level handbook, but its same in name, but different in mechanics. |
| Mystyc04-28-07, 02:22 AM | Deadly Precision (XPH) allows you to reroll 1s on sneak attack dice. |
| Bantam04-28-07, 04:29 AM | I didn't see it in the prior post but I would go. Improved sneak attack. d8s instead of d6s. forgot what book this was from The Book of Exalted Deeds had an exalted feat called Sacred Strike that does d8's for sneak attacks against evil creatures and our weapons are considered good-aligned. |
| Optimator04-28-07, 08:44 PM | I think Darkstalker is a very important feat for rogues. |
