You'll find here http://www.d20srd.org/srd/combat/combatStatistics.htm#touchAttacks When you are the target of a touch attack, your AC doesn’t include any armor bonus, shield bonus, or natural armor bonus. All other modifiers, such as your size modifier, Dexterity modifier, and deflection bonus (if any) apply normally. As you see "all other modifiers" apply, and give some EXAMPLES (such as), but only the first three (natural armor, armor, shield) bonuses are ignored |

Yeah, that's what I thought, but I read a discussion of divine shield on this board and someone replied that you'd need the feat shield ward in order to apply that to your touch ac. I wasn't so sure about that, but nobody corrected that person. |
| DocBeard07-09-07, 03:12 PM | Given the way the feat's worded, the bonus is applied to your shield's AC bonus, and thus would be (I would assume) treated the way your shield's AC bonus is normally treated. (And thus, no, it would not normally apply to your touch AC, without Shield Ward or some similar ability like that feat in Lords of Madness, at least.) In fact, it's not even called a Sacred Bonus to AC in the feat text, just in the blurb of the table. And while this sort of nitpickiness usually irks me, it is what it is. |
| Puca07-09-07, 03:19 PM | Just going on the wording of the feat, the bonus is unnamed and applies only to the shield you carry. As such, it would stack with the Shield bonus applied to your AC by the shield itself, as well as with any enhancement bonuses on the shield, but it is all part of your shield bonus to AC, and therefore would not apply to any touch attacks. |
| irzg9zh3psgq3m0907-11-07, 06:02 PM | It says it's a sacred bonus in the blurb but fails to mention it again in the feat description. It's not corrected in the errata, so I would think it's just a sacred bonus to AC. However, I do agree with you that the way the description words it, it seems like it only applies to your shield. Ya know what, I'm going to interpret it as a sacred bonus only to your shield, so it would still apply to touch AC, however if you drop your shield or take any actions that would make you lose your shield bonus (such as attacking with your off-hand with a buckler equipped), you lose the bonus AC. |

If the bonus apply to the shield, it doesn't give you a "sacred bonus to AC", it gives to your shield a sacred bonus to the shield bonus it provides to your AC, so it doesn't apply to touch AC For example. If you wear: - chain shirt (+4 armor bonus), a buckler (+1 shield bonus) and your dexterity is 16 (+3 dexterity bonus) Your AC is 18 and you touch AC is 13 If you obtain a +2 sacred bonus to your shield you'll have +4 armor bonus, +3 shield bonus, +3 dexterity bonus Thus your touch AC is immodified The same that happen if your shield is enchanted +2. Because the +2 enanchement do not give +2 enanchement bonus to AC, it give +2 enanchement bonus to the shield bonus to be applied to AC |

The "blurb" on the table? Text always trumps tables. That is in the errata, and probably why they didnt see a need to do more. When you find a disagreement between two D&DŽ rules sources, unless an official errata file says otherwise, the primary source is correct. One example of a primary/secondary source is text taking precedence over a table entry. |
