One gives extra damage to evil creatures from your unarmed strike, one gives extra damage to evil creatures from a weapon, and one gives extra damage to evil creatures from a natural weapon. A monk's unarmed strike, per the PHB, qualifies as both a manufactured weapon and a natural attack, in addition to an unarmed attack. It seems, though not intended, that under RAW a monk would be able to take these three feats and get three times the damage against evil creatures. Not that I was planning to do this, nor would I probably allow it, I just wanted to get some thoughts on it. Just another example of the Broken-ness of Exalted Deeds, or a powerful weapon with which to fight evil? What say ye? |

Personally i'd allow it. 3 feats (and improved unarmed, weapon focus as prereq feats) to get a measily 3 damage that only applies situationally or 3d4 that applies even more situationally. Hardly gamebreaking. Even in a campaign spanning the infinite layers of the abyss, filled to the brim with evil outsiders, I'd wager theres more efficient things to do with 3 feat slots for a monk. Maybe if it was a VOP monk that ran out of exalted feats to take .. but VOP will have lost much of its punch by that point if its not a low magic campaign, so i still wouldnt say it was gamebreaking. |
