Can you scribe a scroll with a metamagic enhanced spell? And if so, can you also do that for wands? Please and thank you :)

Yes. You use the new (adjusted with metamagic) spell level for determining cost.

Really? Damn, that puts my XP and gold on the line. Thanks.

Absolutely, there is no way to add the metamagic effect otherwise.

Additional facts:

1. Sudden feats and the like are not really different feats. They are feats that apply the standard feat, without the cost.

But the feats are clear, they ONLY affect the cost to cast, they do NOT reduce the cost to enchant.

That is a Wand of Sudden Empower Magic Missile costs the exact same gold, xp and time as a wand of Empower Magic Missile.

2. that wands have the limit of 4th level, which by core includes the metamagic level.

I.E. You can not make a wand of Empowered Fireball (Or Sudden Empowered Fireball), it requires a 5th level slot, and wands are limited to 4th.

Some people do house rule to allow this, you might ask your DM.

well, there are a few perstige classes that allow the caster to use his metamagic feats when using items such as wands and scrolls. Incantatrix comes to mind..........

Are you sure...I'cve never read that: I thought the cost was based on spell slot. A Fireball suddened is still 3rd...

Again, the cost is based on slot level so I disagree.

I don't see this restriction fitting...

Let me rephrase. Unless you are paying for the enhancement in some other way (like that PrC.)

If you craft the item with the metamagic inside, then the level of the effect inside the item is higher and will increase the cost.

Nephlite, for each of the metamagic effects they say the spell level is elevated the number of levels indicated by the level adjust.

I don't see a way to interpret it that the cost shouldn't increase the cost. A wand of Empowered Magic Missile should logically cost more than a wand of Magic Missile.

Additionally, the FAQ clears up any doubt that any metamagic effect imbued into an item will increase it's cost.

On a related note, can you apply augment healing or the healer ability, healing hands, to a potion brewed by such a character? One of my players wants to do this, and although I don't think it's legal by RAW, I was hoping there was some way to allow it. How would it change the cost to create such a potion?

It wouldn't work RAW wise, but you could allow it by assigning a level adjust to each effect (at least +1 each) and then have him make them normally. Cost would increase normally by the amount needed to make the higher level spell (level 1 spell with two LA+1 effects = level 3 spell = minimum level 5 caster level = 15 times the cost of the level 1 potion.)

Sorry, but the rules are clear on the last point at the least.

FROM THE SRD
Magic Items and Metamagic Spells
With the right item creation feat, you can store a metamagic version of a spell in a scroll, potion, or wand. Level limits for potions and wands apply to the spell’s higher spell level (after the application of the metamagic feat). A character doesn’t need the metamagic feat to activate an item storing a metamagic version of a spell.

While it may be argued that you should base the price of the item on the base spell level, rather than its enhanced metamagic level, the rules are clear that for the purposes of determining whether or not the enhanced spell can be put in a wand or potion, its the enhanced level that counts.

And I believe the FAW speaks to the other points, all of which indicate that yes, enhancing the spell to be crafted in increases the cost and level accordingly.

It is in the FAQ:Can sudden metamagic feats (from Complete Arcane) be
used to scribe scrolls or craft wands that include the
metamagic effect? If so, how would you calculate the cost
(since sudden metamagic feats don’t alter the level of the
spell)?
You can use a sudden metamagic feat in item creation; the
cost to create the item would be just as if you were using the
regular metamagic feat. For instance, using your Sudden Widen
feat to create a scroll of widened fireball would cost as much as
a scroll of a 6th-level spell (which is what a widened fireball
is). The act of creating the scroll or wand would expend your
daily use of Sudden Widen (since the act of creation triggers
the spell, making it unavailable for casting).

Good rule of thumb: The better the item you are looking to create, the more is should cost, regardless of how you were able to make it better.

A Maximized Fireball is better than a regular Fireball, so a scroll of Maximized Fireball should cost more than a scroll of Fireball, whether the feat used to make it was based on a Sudden feat or not.
