Do i understand that feat right and it really sucks. You only take it to fulfill the prerequisites for some prestige classes? I mean a +1 bonus once a day is not really worth anything. If one can choose to apply the bonus after rolling the dice or it would be really added to the rolled value, so a rolled 19 would be a natural 20, then it would be better, but still ... in my opinion it sucks. What do you think? |
| claypigeons04-15-07, 10:45 PM | It sucks. That's the point, I think. Like having "Toughness" as an entry requirement for Dwarven Defender. |
| Xavon04-15-07, 10:55 PM | Once per day is a little harsh, but being able to use it for any attack roll, damage roll, saving throw, or skill check is not to be underestimated. |
| Kintara04-15-07, 11:06 PM | Yeah. It's the only thing that counterbalances the Champion of Gwynharwyf, if I recall correctly. Not that it actually succeeds in doing so. ;) |
| Ischtan04-16-07, 01:10 AM | Yes, the CoG for example is actually a really powerful prestige class. But many prestige classes are really powerful. The problem is also, that it is a +1 bonus, that is 5% better chance in succeeding in a check once per day. If it would be at least +2, or maybe +3, the feat would be at least a little bit useful. |
| CryoSilver04-16-07, 01:15 AM | It's like getting Guidance once per day, and considering that other feats let you use multiple low-level spells per day with no alignment restrictions, yes, it sucks, but it opens up some neat PrC and RP options. |
| Kintara04-16-07, 01:21 AM | It is one of those feats that is only really worth it to have in itself as a roleplaying device. As a DM, I would allow such a character to have a more favorable relationship with the celestials of that kind (even more than usual for an Exalted character). This isn't to say that I think that it's justified in sucking because of that, though. |

I beg to differ. There are very few PrCs as good as the CoG, or some of the other Exalted PrCs in the BoED such as the Fist of Raziel, which is even more ridiculously powerful. That one also has Servant of the Heavens as a requirement. If they made the feat more useful, then they would have to downpower the corresponding PrCs to compensate. So there's really nothing to "fix" - it's already taken into account. |
| runestar04-16-07, 06:06 AM | Are you able to add the bonus after you know the results of your own roll? That does not sound so bad? Did you miss your attack roll by just 1? Add it right in. But I guess it is mostly a prereq feat, similar to the BOVD feats.:) |
| Ischtan04-16-07, 03:23 PM | How do you interpret the part "while doing an act of good" Does that have to be an active action? Or would it also count for example to add this bonus to a save in a fight against evil creatures? |
| Arcane Guyver04-17-07, 12:41 AM | How do you interpret the part "while doing an act of good" Not too difficult....if you're making a d20 roll while doing something for the greater good (not just your interpretation of good, but the black & white D&D version of good), you can use the feat. |
