| Sajek07-22-07, 09:30 PM | I am making a guy who specializes in shields. Throwing shields, whacking people with shields, tripping with shields, all kinds of things. Could I get some suggestions for good shield related feats and the books they are from to pimp him out? |
| Traverse07-22-07, 09:44 PM | Crystal Keep (http://crystalkeep.com/d20/index.php)'s Feats PDF has a one page section on shields, on page 27. |
| Tempest Stormwind07-22-07, 10:00 PM | I am making a guy who specializes in shields. Throwing shields, whacking people with shields, tripping with shields, all kinds of things. Could I get some suggestions for good shield related feats and the books they are from to pimp him out? I put a lot of them together on the dwarven defender variant I made (see my sig). I think the only one I left out was Shield Sling (throw the shield). |
| Tallow07-22-07, 10:08 PM | I am making a guy who specializes in shields. Throwing shields, whacking people with shields, tripping with shields, all kinds of things. Could I get some suggestions for good shield related feats and the books they are from to pimp him out? PHB II and Complete warrior both have some good Shield feats. Improved Shield Bash from PHB (retain shield bonus to AC when shield bashing) Shield Charge from CW (free trip attack with shield during charge) Shield Slam from CW (Use Shield to daze opponent) Shield Specialization from PHBII (+1 shield bonus to AC) Active Shield Defense from PHBII (make AoO's without penalty when fighting defensively) Agile Shield Fighter from PHBII (Reduce two weapon penalties when using shield bash) Shield Sling from PHBII (use shield as ranged weapon) Shield Ward from PHBII (gain shield bonus to touch AC and against bull rush, disarm, grapple, overrun and trip) Brutal Throw and Power Throw from CA helps if you choose to use Shield Sling Otherwise, I don't think there are any shield specific feats. Although these are all pretty good. Andy |
| Rolof07-23-07, 06:06 AM | Tallow covered it pretty well, hate to state the obvious but also don't forget weapon focus and specialization; far as I know there is no reason you can't apply them to shields since they can be utilized as weapons. |
| Pandapeep07-23-07, 06:30 AM | You'll need a ranged shield tool. Well, it'll be nice, at least. |
| strenoth07-23-07, 09:58 AM | Spiked shield, enchant spikes to be at least +1, throwing, Returning. Have fun :-D and of course, Improved Shield bash + TWF = fun. |
| snakeman83007-23-07, 10:13 AM | Parrying Shield from Lords of Madness adds your shield bonus to your touch AC, and NOT just for certian attacks (I.E., grapple, bull rush, etc.) Prerequisites: shield proficiency. That said, you can guess which one I prefer... |
| VulcanStormwrath07-23-07, 05:00 PM | If you were to choose a Kensai you can also add all the weapon abilities to your shield giving you both the sheild/armor enhancements and the weapon enhancements to choose from. I know you asked a bout feats it just occurred to me is all. |
| HighPriestMikhal07-23-07, 05:09 PM | Parrying Shield from Lords of Madness adds your shield bonus to your touch AC, and NOT just for certian attacks (I.E., grapple, bull rush, etc.) Shield Ward says you get your shield bonus to touch AC and all bull rush, trip, disarm, grapple, and overrun attempts. Ward is like an updated version of Parrying Shield. |
