Pretty restrictive, huh ? Should this feat be allowed to ALL creatures with a pair of natural weapons ? I don't see a broken issue, what about you ? |
| cwslyclgh06-04-07, 01:24 AM | I don't know... it seems to me that they would probably not have come up with the restrictions arbitrarily, perhaps the designer of the feats saw a potential problem that we do not. |
| Morwen06-04-07, 03:31 AM | I have the same thoughts you do. It makes little sense that a Magical Beast can rapidstrike with its claw attacks, but at the same time an Outsider (for instance) could not. |

There would really be no reason for a creature not to take the rapidstrike feat line then. IMO, for certain monsters, acquisition of those feats alone would roughly be equivalent to a ad-hoc +2 cr increase.:P |
| strenoth06-05-07, 01:54 AM | Outsiders and undead would gain access to it, which is the most likely to be dangerous set. just review carefully before allowing it to happen. |
| Radijs06-05-07, 05:53 AM | So which undead that do ability damage or (level)drain could qualify? Thats the worst damage I can think of. |
| runestar06-05-07, 06:13 AM | Well, consider a creature with 3 of the same natural attacks. If my understanding of the rapidstrike feat is correct, that would in theory work out to be 3 pairs of possible permutations, meaning it could get up to 9 extra attacks if improved rapidstrike was taken thrice (though I concede that it is extremely feat intensive to do so). With 4 of the same natural attacks, that works out to 12 possible permutations for pairs of natural attacks (although this is tempered by the mechanical impossibility of taking the rapidstrike line of feats so many times). Very scary indeed, especially if you splash 1 lv of soul eater so that all your natural attacks inflict negative lvs... A hydra comes to mind (it still makes all those extra attacks as a standard action)...now to find a way to pile on extra feats... PS: In case no one caught on, I was joking (well, partially) about the 1st part... |
| Derren S.06-05-07, 06:42 AM | The Rapidstrike feats should be reserved for creatures who are normally not able to use manufactured weapons. While there are some dragons who can use swords etc, most of them do not or rather are not able to. Outsiders and Undead regulary can and do use manufactured weapons and so should not have access to rapidstrike. |
