| Bunk05-28-07, 11:33 PM | Looking for an opinion here. If I had a Warlock who used Horrendous Blow to channel a Sickening Blast (save or be sickened) in to a melee attack while making a Brutal Strike with that melee attack (save or be sickened), would there be any stacking of the effects? Normally, two effects that both make you sickened wouldn't stack, but I'm indecisive on this one as they are two completely different types of attack - they just both give the same resulting negatives. |

| jaelis05-29-07, 12:00 AM | If a creature that is already sickened becomes sickened again, it becomes nauseated. That is not correct, as far as I know. |
| Ruike05-30-07, 10:37 AM | Normally i believe it does but some ability descriptions say specifically that they won't stack like that so you'd have to read each one. If it fails both and neither say they won't stack then its (the target) pretty bad off. |
| tarkin05-30-07, 10:56 AM | Fear effects expressely state that the default is they stack. Fear effects are cumulative. A shaken character who is made shaken again becomes frightened, ... There is NO such rule for Sickened/Nauseated: Sickened The character takes a -2 penalty on all attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks. No comment at all about it being cumulative anywhere in the SRD discussion of the conditions themselves. The deafult is that sickened does not stack. While it may be true that some sickening effects expressely state they stack/are cumulative, that only applies to those that say it works like that. Without those comments, it does not stack. |
| strenoth05-30-07, 03:01 PM | Tarkin is correct, default rules do not say 2x sicked = nauseated, so there for it doesn't. |
| Oliver D'Argent05-31-07, 07:47 AM | I am in agreement with strenoth on how to apply the mechanics, and with tarkin that the effects do not stack. |
