My question is in the new complete scoundrel under the hidden blade and sudden draw skill tricks it says that the weapon has to have been concealed using slight of hand. In my oppinion shouldn't this work with the hidden weapons introduced later in the book, just seems logical...

Thanks for any replies

No, since you didn't conceal the weapon using Sleight of Hand. You can houserule it to work with the surprise weapons.
I think that the reason for that is related to the -2 to use the surprise weapons - you are using something that isn't really a weapon, but happens to have had a weapon concealed within it.
A concealed weapon is intended to be a weapon. My harp and boots have weapons in them, but are not in and of themselves weapons intended for combat.
I feel the distinction is significant; if you disagree, that's your call.

The way I see it is it's not what you pull out, according to the rules if you hid a shard of glass as an improvised weapon, your target would still be flat-footed on your next attack or on that attack of oppertunity. It's not what your attacking with it's how supprised your opponent is to see the new weapon.
