How did they come up with some of these skill numbers skill differences for balance, jump, climb, etc... while wildshaped? I.e. A druid in eagle form gains +8 swim. How else do I calculate the skills gained from a new wildshape form; i.e. crocodile, dire bear, hawk, cat, etc...? I know the new physical stats modifiers will change your skills, but that alone does not explain how they came up with these numbers. Especially when reviewing the Monster Manual of each animal description. I.e. please see the following quote from the D&D article rules: Polymorphing Revisited (Part Four) http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/rg/20060523a Mirye CR 6 Female human druid 6 Abilities Str 10, Dex 14, Con 13, Int 12, Wis 16, Cha 11 Skills Climb +4, Concentration +8, Handle Animal +7, Heal +10, Knowledge (nature) +12, Listen +5, Ride +4, Spot +5, Survival +14 (+16 above ground), Swim +1 ---------------------------------------- Mirye (Leopard Form) CR 6 Female human druid 6 Abilities Str 16, Dex 19, Con 15, Int 12, Wis 16, Cha 11 Skills Balance +12, Climb +19, Concentration +9, Handle Animal +7, Heal +10, Hide +8, Knowledge (nature) +12, Listen +5, Move Silently +8, Ride +6, Spot +5, Survival +14 (+16 above ground), Swim +12 ---------------------------------------- Mirye (Small Viper Form) CR 6 Female human druid 6 Abilities Str 6, Dex 17, Con 11, Int 12, Wis 16, Cha 11 Skills Balance +11, Climb +14, Concentration +7, Handle Animal +7, Heal +10, Hide +11, Knowledge (nature) +12, Listen +9, Ride +5, Spot +9, Survival +14 (+16 above ground), Swim +17 ---------------------------------------- Mirye (Eagle Form) CR 6 Female human druid 6 Abilities Str 10, Dex 15, Con 12, Int 12, Wis 16, Cha 11 Skills Climb +8, Concentration +8, Handle Animal +7, Heal +10, Knowledge (nature) +12, Listen +5, Ride +4, Spot +13, Survival +14 (+16 above ground), Swim +9 |

Adjust for physical stats. 2. Adjust for size modifiers. 3. Adjust for alternative movement modes (+8 climb for a climb speed, +8 swim for a swim speed) 4a. If you have some way of getting the creatures (Ex) qualities (Master of Many Forms level 7, or the Enhance Wild Shape spell being the obvious examples), then you will get the racial modifiers, such as the Eagle's +8 to Spot. 4b. If you have some way of getting (Su) you might get some additional modifiers for certain creatures (Planar Shepherd is the only thing that really comes to mind here), who have supernatural bonuses. I'm pretty sure that covers it. Jack Edited: cause I missed one. |

| Jackmojo03-03-08, 08:09 PM | Wouldnt you also get the +8 to swim/climb if you change into a form that has a swim/climb speed? Ooh good catch, I always forget that one (since things with those speeds so rarely need to make the checks). I'll edit my above summary. Jack |
