Hi Guys,

I'm considering taking the skiltrick 'conceal spellcasting from Complete Scoundrell. It lets you make a 'sleight of hand' check versus a spot-ckeck to conceal your spellcasting and avoiding AoO's....that's very usefull

But the 'sleight of hand' skill desciption form Races of Stone let's you do the same (SoH versus Spot). Although it doens't mention avoiding the AoO's (but it's a bit obvious)

Is this skill from RoS too strong? Or is te skilltrick from CSc useless?

Please give me your oppinion.

When I saw the skill trick in CS, I was unaware that skill usage existed in RoS and was thrilled at how good the skill trick seemed. That makes me inclined to say that the RoS skill is too powerful.

I think i will use the skill for social situations and the skiltrick for combat.

I simply rule that what you think "is obvious" is in fact false.

Similar to having an invisible guy walk buy you. You may not see him, but you could "spot" him and get an AoO.

I.E. Without the skilltrick, you can conceal what spell you are casting, but not that you are distracted and not paying attention to the combat situation. So you still take the AoO.

With the skill trick, they have no idea that you are even distracted, so you avoid the AoO.

How do you figure this? You never get AoO when full concealment is in effect. Is this a ruling somewhere?

So in other words, the skill form RoS would be usable in combat to the point that opponents wouldn't see you casting. ...but if they were close enough to hit you, they would spot a opening and hit you anyway (AoO).

The skilltricks would even avoid that AoO.

All in all, I think that this 'skill' from RoS really is a keeper. It's very usefull, effective and fits my Beguiler profile.

thanks !
