However, your DM should decide whether it's a viable action and what, if anything, you have to do in order to get a chance to SoH. At the bare minimum, there should be a melee touch attack provoking attacks of opportunity. |

A Sleight of Hand check takes a standard action, and you can't make a melee attack when you need a standard action for the skill use. However, the use of a standard action skill in combat provokes an AoO anyway, and the skill use fails if you take damage from the AoO (and don't make a Concentration check: DC = 10 + damage dealt). |

I fail to see why not. The touch would be part of the same standard action as the skill check, kind of like casting a touch spell and then making a touch. |
| Merestil Haye04-28-07, 11:15 AM | Can you use sleight of hand to lift a small object from a person when you are in combat?Probably not. There is already a mechanism to attempt this.Grabbing Items You can use a disarm action to snatch an item worn by the target. If you want to have the item in your hand, the disarm must be made as an unarmed attack. If the item is poorly secured or otherwise easy to snatch or cut away the attacker gets a +4 bonus. Unlike on a normal disarm attempt, failing the attempt doesn’t allow the defender to attempt to disarm you. This otherwise functions identically to a disarm attempt, as noted above. You can’t snatch an item that is well secured unless you have pinned the wearer (see Grapple). Even then, the defender gains a +4 bonus on his roll to resist the attempt.I'd say use the existing mechanism. |
