sneak attack criteria [Archive] - Wizards Community

09-10-07, 09:30 PM I'm trying to find the criteria for sneak attack.

I found that you can deal sneak attack with a spell but for some reason I have it in my head that you can only deal sneak attack damage if you have to roll to hit, but i cant find where i got that from.

09-10-07, 09:39 PM Complete Arcane also goes into more detail regarding Sneak Attacking with spells, and the requirements are that the spell requires a to-hit roll *and* deals some form of damage.

So, neither Magic Missile (no roll) nor Ray of Enfeeblement (no damage) can land a sneak attack, but Scorching Ray can.
