Is there any way to feint with a ranged attack? I'm not trying to snipe someone from a mile away, just curious if you can use Bluff with a ranged attack, if you're still relatively close to the target.

Reason being is to help with Elderitch Blast. Because my understanding of sneak attacks is that any attack that denies the target counts for a sneak attack. Which while not being traditional, would still be an attack.

Any help would be great.

Hideous blow or Eldritch Glaive will turn it into a melee attack, no need to worry then.

But most of those attacks have the range 30' thing, so just get in close.

From the SRD"

"You can also use Bluff to mislead an opponent in melee combat "

I have no idea outside of that, perhaps some prestige class? but not in core. Of course warlocks get the ability to invis themselves, so you would have the standard action to invis, and then get it off every other round, same as a rogue using bluff in melee (without the attendant feat improved feint)

I dont have the compArc with me, but i thought that warlocks also gained a way to make darkness and see through it... that could be a way in which to garner the same effect... but feinting ... hmmm

There is sniping :D From the SRD:

"Sniping
If you’ve already successfully hidden at least 10 feet from your target, you can make one ranged attack, then immediately hide again. You take a -20 penalty on your Hide check to conceal yourself after the shot.

Creating a Diversion to Hide
You can use Bluff to help you hide. A successful Bluff check can give you the momentary diversion you need to attempt a Hide check while people are aware of you."

So i suppose in a round about way you could use a standard action to bluff and a move action to hide, gaining a (per success on bluffing [v/s sense motive for diversion] and then hiding [v/s spot, but allowed since without the diversion you cannot hide while in plain sight]) SA on your EB for the next turn and allowing a "snipe" or move and hide roll at -20, if successfull allowing you to continue doing this every turn. It would depend a great deal on your hide modifier and your rolls, since you can't take 10 on the bluff or the snipe/hide rolls. There are ways and items to help you do this, however, and it is not an infeasible tactic, that might be the only core way.

On Edit: I just realized that 'Locks are not core, lol, others might have more information on distance feinting from other sources, hehe...

Ah, sounds good to me then. I figured either one of those invocations would probably play a major part in it.

As for sniping, I was mainly meaning not being able to hit someone half a mile away with an EB. But, I guess you could go the hide and shoot way of life too. Or just go invis and have fun that way.

Thanks.

contrary to its name, "sniping" stipulates only that you are 10' away, giving you 45' to work with on the EB tip, but i see what you mean. At any rate, the SA can only extend 30', so you actually have less to work with than you would think.

I have seen a feat before called Bow Feint, which allows you to feint within 30ft the same way you do in melee, but i have no idea where it is or if it's 3.5 (but i do know it is official though)

Pick up, if you can, either 5 levels of Spellwarp Sniper (difficult because of the spell level requirement, since your invocations don't count, but you might be able to wrangle your DM to allow it), or the Crossbow Sniper feat (requiring weapon focus in a crossbow).

Either of these will increase the range of your sneak attacks to 60 feet.
