Looking in this build:

This one:P (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=883706)

I have a few feats I cannot find the source... (yes I looked in the consolited list archive)

There they are:

Overpowering Assault (Double dmg instead of full attack, affects AoO’s)
and
Occult Opportunist

Could some noe tell me where they come from?

Thank you:P

Also: Can you answer my question in this thread? Thank you! (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=999047)

Never heard of these feats. I'm certain there is no feat that does what you described in Overpowering Assault (at least any WOTC books that I'm aware of). It might be in some third party book though.

Same goes for the second one unless you meant the Mage Slayer feat which is in Complete Arcane I believe.

Maybe its possible these are class/prestige class abilities and you think they're feats?

No I've seen mage slayer, well maybe th feat is 3.0 ed? i'd still like to know about it, I find it a bit weird a build so "famous" uses 3rd party feats...

Ah, lockdown. His suposed holy grail which absolutely proves that the fighter is a powerhouse, and smushes the druid. Yeah right.

Anyway, those feats: Occult Opportunist is in Dragon Magazine #340, and the other one is in, well, I can't find it. It may be 3.0 (which is not 3rd party: 3.0 could still be made by WotC), in which case I laugh at lockdown.

dman, thanks I don't use 3rd party nor Dragon Mags but we do play 3.25 so this might be usable...

Also dman, you trash all builds, you always find a flaw don't you? :P

Thanks

EDIT: 13 21 34 51... right?

55, not 51.

I don't trash builds, I just think he was misguided in thinking that a single build proved that a fighter can outshine a druid. And it doesn't even do that. It's a good build, and a good basis, but it doesn't prove anything. Kind of a "using powers for evil" sort of thing.

Isn't overpowering assault one of the fighter variant levels?

Ah, there it is, overpowering attack its a fighter variant from PHB2. Works pretty much like the monk's decisive strike variant, except without the -2 penalty.

It is on Crystal Keep, its just in the Base class listing under fighter variants.

Ahh, Dman and his cheeful, positive commentary.

Although Occult Opportunist is not in a WoTC product, Paizo feats (i.e. from Dragon) are actually considered approved. That may not help you get the feat to the table...although Force Missile Mage usually makes it in, heh!

It's a great feat for a Mage Slayer build. I clearly label it as optional in the build, but if you can take it, you should.

Overpowering Attack is only useful if you are making an AoO build. Without being able to get off at least one mroe attack/rd, OA doesn't really pay for itself.

WotC also put it at the wrong level. It should have been swapped out for the FIghter ability at level 17. You know, like them Zhentarim fear effects.

Occult Opportunist is in FC2. It allows you to make AoOs against Supernatural Abilities that normally wouldn't provoke them.

And that's why Overpowering Attack is really good for lockdown-type builds. Because those builds focus on AoOs for damage.

You know, Ael, you did a really good job with that build. I do like it.

Occult Opportunist (http://realmshelps.dandello.net/cgi-bin/feats.pl?Occult_Opportunist,all).

EDIT: It says Dragon Magazine (which is official WotC).

And: bookmark that site. It's extremely useful.

It's all feats ever. Well, a lot of the feats. It only has Forgotten Realms specific and non-specific feats, but it does have most of them. Certainly more than Crystal Keep (the other site you need to bookmark). CK has feats, spells, classes, PrCs, monsters, templates, and magic items. Basically everything else, and is not limited to stuff allowed only in FR. But they do a sloppy job of updating so the newer stuff isn't there.

So all feats and classes and everything from dragon mag is in there? Nice! We migth start using them:P

Yeah, Occult Opportunist is considerably more expansive then Supernatural Instinct or whatever it is.

And you like Lockdown, Dman? Given how much you seem to enjoy trashing fighters, I wouldn't have expected it :)

I actually count the big reason for its popularity as the amount of thoroughness I went through on the build...by level, with magic, without magic, reasons for this and that, equipment, goals, options, and by making it as generic as I possibly could. None of this race-specific, templated, weird interpretation stuff you see on so many builds. It's a build you can take and run with, putting your own spin onto things.

Of course, the pages and pages of mages trying to prove that the build sucked regardless kept it in the public eye a long time, too! Heh.

Hehe I liked the build:P

One question aelryinth, If you could gestalt the build what would you do? with it?

I was thinking fighter 16/rogue (BF) 2/tank 2 (a class approved by the DM, same as a barbarian level 1 and 2 except gets a bonus feat at those levels)//XXXX 5/warhulk 10/XXXXX 5

What do you think?

It's a nice and really powerful build. It shows that the fighter can be uber.

I also don't like the fighter class. It can be powerful, yes, but it is poorly designed and generally weak. Weak unless you can pull off stuff like Lockdown.

Anyways, I'd say maybe Warblade in those off levels. There may be some nifty maneuvers. If not, possibly barbarian for a couple, and then Frenzied Berserker for some, to get insane power attack options.
