Benefit: You get a +2 bonus on all skill checks involving skills in which you have no ranks. You still cannot attempt checks with skills that normally don't allow untrained skill checks. ENERGY FOCUS [GENERAL] Choose a type of energy, such as fire. Your spells of that energy type are more potent than normal. Benefit: Add +1 to the Difficulty Class for all saving throws against spells with the energy type you select. Special: You can gain this feat multiple times. Its effects do not stack. Each time you take the feat, it applies to a new type of energy. ENERGY MASTERY [GENERAL] Choose a type of energy, such as fire. Your spells of that energy type deal more damage than normal. Prerequisite: Energy Focus with selected energy type. Benefit: Add +1 damage per die to the damage for all spells with the energy type you select. Special: You can gain this feat multiple times. Its effects do not stack. Each time you take the feat, it applies to a new type of energy. EXTRA SUDDEN SPELL [METAMAGIC] You can use your Sudden Metamagic Feats more often. Benefit: Once per day, you gain an extra use of one of your Sudden Metamagic Feats. Every time you use this feat, you can choose another Sudden Metamagic Feat you possess. GREATER ENERGY FOCUS [GENERAL] Choose a type of energy to which you already have applied the Energy Focus feat. Your spells of that energy type are now even more potent than before. Benefit: Add +1 to the Difficulty Class for all saving throws against spells with the energy type you select. This bonus stacks with the bonus from Energy Focus. Special: You can gain this feat multiple times. Its effects do not stack. Each time you take the feat, it applies to a new type of energy to which you already have applied the Energy Focus feat. |

I think something like Energy Focus may already exist, not sure. Still neat, and the masteries are cool too. Extra Sudden Spell is a good idea. Perhaps specify whether they have to pick a specific sudden metamagic feat that it always applies to, or if the extra use can be used on a different sudden metamagic feat each day? |
| mtrpcic03-29-07, 04:41 PM | Beginners luck seems a bit strong, considering there's Jack of All Trades, which does the exact same thing but only gives half a rank. You should make that a prerequisite for Beginners Luck. |
| Tim448803-29-07, 04:43 PM | Jack of All Trades lets you use trained-only skills untrained, though. Unless I misread, Beginner's Luck does not. |
| Rondulin03-29-07, 07:18 PM | I like them. Beginner's Luck is neat flavorfully, especially. Imagine a Bard with Bardic Knack (PHBII) and that feat... nasty. Glad, you like it. Beginners luck seems a bit strong, considering there's Jack of All Trades, which does the exact same thing but only gives half a rank. You should make that a prerequisite for Beginners Luck. Beginner's Luck does not let you use a trained-only skill untrained. Perhaps I should clarify this in the description. I think something like Energy Focus may already exist, not sure. Still neat, and the masteries are cool too. I also thought Energy Focus already existed, but I could not find it anywhere. So I just made up, as a prerequisite feat for Energy Mastery. Extra Sudden Spell is a good idea. Perhaps specify whether they have to pick a specific sudden metamagic feat that it always applies to, or if the extra use can be used on a different sudden metamagic feat each day? Actually, I wanted the feat to be used on different sudden metamagic feats each day. Would that be too powerful? |
| Tim448803-29-07, 07:54 PM | So long as it keeps to only one use, no, that would not be too powerful. If someone wanted 2 or 3 extra uses, I'd say they'd have to specify one of the sudden feats for it to always apply to (and I'd wonder about allowing it on Quicken or Maximize). |
| Rondulin03-29-07, 08:04 PM | Ok. Clarified the rules on Extra Sudden Spell. It's one extra use of any one sudden metamagic feat you possess. |
